Spartan Pencil Holder
We've all seen the spartan/gladiator knife holder. I don't need a knife holder but I could use pencil holder. I scaled the original vectors https://www.instructables.com/Knife-Block/ to ~75%, added some body to the spartan and his head dress, and added a dragon from Vectric's clip art collection to ...

Re: Weiner Dog
That's really cute! (Live one is too.) Looks like maybe you snagged it from the Keizer.
Finishing is awsome.... Maybe add some steel shot in it's belly and you can convince folks that it's bronze.

Warning sign
Really liked this sign when I saw it. Aspire made it easy to give it some "body".
The Shovel is from Vectric's free clip art. Painting was the hardest part; with a couple of mess-ups where my masking didn't stay down. (Masking is 65lb card stock cut on a Silhouette brand vinyl cutter.)

Re: Anyone using an X-carve by Inventibles?
Thanks all for your responses. I have downloaded UGS and will try it when I'm next in the Makerspace.
I may try gSender too. to see if it's easier/simpler to use. (I really need something that is "stupid simple".)

Re: 3D MODEL SHOWING UP 180 TO THE PROJECT PLAIN
Can you change the initial orientation when you import the file? (Your file did not seem to have anything in it.)

Anyone using an X-carve by Inventibles?
Our Makerspace was just given a small Xcarve CNC. It's intended to run on proprietary on line software called Easel. Vectric's Vcarve Pro has a post processor that can create the proper G-code for the Easel software, but I'd like to avoid Easel all together. Our "big" CNC uses Mach3. connected throu...

Re: Boomerang Wall Clock
Very nice design. Mid-century modern or Scandinavian influences -- then I look and see where you're from
I had the great fortune to study with Jim Krenov in the early eighties in Northern California.

Beki's Trinket Tray
I had a piece of walnut burl I scrounged at our local makerspace that was just about the right size for Beki's trinket tray. After cutting it out, I realized I should have changed it around so I could leave the raw edge of the burl intact. (Though there was some bark intrusion that probably would ha...

Re: Prepping for Halloween!
That's nice. Much spookier paint job than mine. I teach a CNC class at our local makerspace so used VCarve Pro Makerspace Edition. And posted images over on the VCarve forum.

Jack-O-Lantern season
'Tis the season, and I'm getting all these Jack o lantern feeds on you tube. I think they're terrible, so I figured I would do it right :D Of course, having a CNC really helps. I "teach" the CNC at our local makerspace so I set up the file for that purpose. We use Vectric's VCarve Pro - Makerspace e...

Re: Witness lines in Preview
Well, I lied. The witness lines were gone in the preview, but they showed up in the actual carving. I'm going to guess it has something to do with my $10 touch plate + the small diameter of the 0.5mm tbn. I don't think the wood is moving after cutting one side, as this is a two sided job and there a...
