Re: Pocket troubles (SOLVED)
In VCP8.511 it worked the way you show, until I recalculated, and then it worked great(sorry about adding a ramp, second nature). scott Thank you Scott. You have solved my problem. The version I downloaded 4 weeks ago was 8.509. I didn't think to check for an update  I should known better. Jus...

Re: Pocket troubles
I don't have V-Carve 8.5. I do have Aspire 8.5. When I load your file into Aspire 8.5 then re-calculate the pocket toolpath it does add that last interior profile pass. Someone with VCarve 8.5 will need to try your file. It works as you expect it to in Aspire 8.5 Thanks 4D thinker. Very interesting...

Pocket troubles
I have used VCarve Pro for many years and recently upgraded from 6.5 to 8.5. For some reason I cannot get the Last pass to work when using Raster pocketing. When pocketing I select raster and Profile last pass. I cannot select climb or conventional and when I select the profile pass as last it does ...

Re: HELLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPP please
The only comment I would make is to be aware that just because it says it is 60 degrees on the packet it may not be. It will be close 55 to 65 degrees but a small deviation in cutter angle can have a large effect on the final outcome. Somewhere on this site is a thread on testing cutter angle to che...

Re: STL models
In Cut3D on page 2 put a tick in "Use Model Silhouette"
It will machine around the model instead of the entire stock.

If it helps here is a video that shows machining a piece longer than the machine using VCP tiling.

Re: Faux Graining MDF
A great tutorial Michael. I like the idea of using paint. I have only done it using shellac and stains but will have to give paint a try. I must also say that Mike's idea of making our own wood graining tool is inspired. I have to say that it is something that I would never have thought of, though i...

Re: VCarve Inlay - ALMOST there!
To figure out the cause of lost steps will require quite a bit of info from you but as a general rule of thumb I would look at the motor tuning settings for the Z axis to start with. There are 3 things in there that need attention. Maximum speed - This may be set too high and will cause lost steps a...

Re: VCarve Inlay - ALMOST there!
Excellent, you are half way there. Could you let us know what driver you are using to drive the stepper motors and are you driving them straight from a PC parallel port or are you using an external step generator like a smooth stepper or similar? Unfortunately the Aspire files are of no use to me as...

Re: VCarve Inlay - ALMOST there!
Sorry to hear about your problems with getting the VCarve inlay to work. My initial thoughts about what I see in the photo is it is either the angle of the cutter does not match the setting you have in VCarve Pro or you may have an issue with loosing steps on the Z axis. The best thing to do with fi...

Re: XY axis designation
Before I start cutting I want to make sure I have my table axis right for Vectric pro. I have my X set to the longest part of the table and the Y on the shorter part, is this right or should I switch them in mach3 setup? Hi Jim, The length of an axis has nothing to do with which axis is which but w...

Re: Part to long for Machine
In aspire you can use tiling to cut the part in 2 or more pieces.
I was reading about this yesterday and it looks pretty simple.
There is a video tutorial on doing this.
