Creating army tank rounds with unit crests

https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/m28/zipperhead55/IMG_0855(Edited).jpg Hi all. I've been working like Dr Frankenstein lately, which is to take my main money maker, carving military unit crests (usually as plaques, but also on cribbage boards), and transfer that over to the 4th dimension, er, ...

Re: Stuck on trying to "vectorize" my image and move foward

While creating your own files is a skill that will come in handy, there is no need to re-invent the wheel in this case. I did a quick Google search (using "FC Dallas vector" as my search) and I got this hit on my first result: https://logotyp.us/logo/fc-dallas/ Becoming a Google-fu master can save a...

Re: Bowl Engraving Marks

Change your modeling resolution (in Job Setup) to the highest level (X7, at a minimum.... otherwise create a new project while holding down the shift key, and that will "unlock" higher resolution settings (Extremely High and Maximum). Also, change your preview simulation quality (Toolpaths > Preview...

Re: 12 COMMANDMENTS FOR QUALITY V CARVING

Nice list! This should be recommended reading BEFORE people post on FB or here in the forums with issues related to v-carving. People don't realize how flat the material has to be to do fine line (ie shallow) v-carving, and expect some kind of miracles to occur with a board they found in their junk ...

Re: Looking for Corian

If you have a Habitat For Humanity Re-Store (or similar) sometimes you can find complete countertops for a good price. I have read/heard that Dupont (or whomever makes Corian) doesn't allow contractors to sell cut-off's or the sink cut-outs, to keep their product more "premium", or some weird reason...

Re: Organizing STL Files and Adding to ClipArt

I'm just seeing this post for the first time, and I have been doing this for a while now, but the only difference is I tended to go much bigger (24" x 24" x 1.5"+), in case I needed the crests larger than 6" (I was thinking I would lose resolution if I started smaller (6", as per OP's suggestion) an...

Re: Puzzle Joint Generator

Am I missing something here? Why were the links to the app removed? I did have to allow MalwareBytes an exemption for the .EXE file (as Malwarbytes tagged it as some form of generic virus, etc), so perhaps that is the issue.

Re: Puzzle Joint Generator

I bought your Tailmaker and Fingermaker software, and while I haven't had the opportunity to put it to good use (laziness on my part), I would love to see something along the lines of what you are looking at creating, and will definitely purchase it, or send you a few bucks, to pay you for your time...

Re: ideas for slab of wood

Hey Zipper, Where did you get that wolf model. WOW - I like that a lot. Not asking for a free or pirated model. I want to go and buy it. Got a link? Its from 3DWaveI have an annual subscription, but I believe it's currently closed for new subscriptions (there was somebody re-selling the models as t...

Re: ideas for slab of wood

What does it look like from the other side? I've only done a few projects with live edge, and I have focused on the side that shows the most of the live edge portion (it appears that the back side would have more live edge showing). Otherwise, it might be an idea to use the flat portion at the botto...

Re: Any tips on turning 3d model into a relief?

I have a feeling you might be looking at doing something that I struggled with over the years: taking an existing 3D model (one that can be "posed" at any angle, and not simply a 3D model from many of the sites that is already a relief image (ie a scene that has only been modeled from one perspectiv...

Re: Laser module postprocessor issue

Why is everyone complaining about this? Vectric has repeatedly said to TEST THE LASER MODULE BEFORE YOU BUY. https://www.vectric.com/free-trial/laser-module Folks do no research, then complain that the company does not support them. I have an Axiom CNC with laser. When the module came out it was no...

Re: Laser module postprocessor issue

Allan, I did some reading on Axiom and it looks like GRBL but I could not find any documentation from Axion on how it's configured. The old J-tech pp you referenced didn't use any M4 commands I would have expected to see on a real Grbl machine. Does Axion support GRBL Laser Mode ($32=1 on my Shapeo...

Re: Laser module postprocessor issue

I'd love to see some resolution, particularly since I paid for the Laser Module, and sooooo many people say "Modifying postprocessors is easy!". If it's so easy, why haven't I had any takers on my offer of $20 to create a working postprocessor for my laser (Endurance 10W)? Well, Axiom hardware DOES...
