Re: Proudly Canadian

Nice work! One of the best Canadian flag projects I have seen in 3D! Simple, and using 2 woods: excellent!

Re: Inlays - Merging Technologies

I have been sitting on the fence over buying a 3D printer, but I think this might have pushed me over to the "purchase the damn thing already!" side. As the OP said, I have no interest in making Man Barbies, but between the ability to make thingamajigs for the shop (and actual jigs) and doing inlay ...

Re: inlay into 3D object?

I have been thinking about doing something like this before, but I suspect it isn't as easy as one would think, due to the geometries involved. I was able to do somewhat the opposite: I wanted to have a domed shape for a lid, and then carve out the back of a crest to match that shape (2-sided carvin...

Re: Cribbage Board

Very nice! I too like the "stadium seating" track, and the peg storage in the back! I never thought to do it that way (magnets and wood cover), so I will definitely be stealing that idea if I make similar designs.

Re: Vectorclip3d

I bought a one year subscription about 2 years ago. I downloaded as many models as I thought I would need during that time but didn't renew since the amount of models being released wasn't that high (in my opinion). Not a bad value I suppose. Quality of models was above average. He started to "explo...

Re: 3DClip

Thanks for pointing this out! Occasionally, when I want to do a "mock up" for a client that involves multiple pieces (particularly with different wood types/colours), I would export one as a 3D clipart, and then import that part into Aspire, and take a screen grab in 3D view. I stopped doing it beca...

Re: importing a guitar blueprint

Unless it's a custom design, you can likely find vector files of most guitars (Stratocaster, Les Paul, etc) on the internet. If you're really lucky, you might even find CRV or CRV3D files.

Re: Celtic Crib Board

You beat me to it!! I was going to try to figure out how to do this in the near future (based on the video and a few forum posts I saw regarding this), and now I don't have to! Wicked.

Great job!

Re: Cribbage players

I'm in Canada, and served in the military, and I have always remembered seeing a crib board, even as a kid. My daughters (15, 19, 21) will play it when my oldest comes home for Sunday dinner, so the younger generation is well served. We also play it whilst camping (rainy day activity). One thing I l...

Re: Model resolution - default settings

I know that for the average person, using average models, the default settings will work, but I generally use custom made, very high resolution models (some are over 5 million polys). Again, I got in the habit of using what was presented to me as default (the standard ones that come up when creating...

Re: Model resolution - default settings

Thanks guys. I don't always like emailing support because I reason that there are people out there that have the same question that I have, but there is no where to find it (Google search, for example) so they never find out the answer. As well, it must be a pain in the butt for the support people t...

Model resolution - default settings

I did a quick search of the forum to see if this was asked/addressed but didn't find anything directly related, so here is my question: Would it be possible in future releases to have ALL of the different model resolutions (standard, X3, X7, X25, X50) available whenever one creates a new project? I ...

Re: Vectric and lasers

I'm not sure where they are with it, but I had broached the subject of laser AND rotary axis post-processors (PP), and there is a safety issue (the laser would be high enough that it poses a safety hazard), so perhaps that is why they are still figuring things out. I believe that there are PP for th...

Re: edit material dimensions

To center everything (to make the distribution more even) just selection everything (draw a box around everything) and in the Drawing Tab, in Transform section, select Align Selected Object, and use the Align to Material button. The only caveat with using these tools is that you might have to group ...
