I think I will put this one to rest. Seems it's not feasible to pull anything usable out of a PDF without ridiculous amounts of time.

I will look into the programs Inkscape and Xara. I do have a plan of a different airplane in a PDF that I remember opening successfully so I just assumed it would work. I was under the impression that Aspire can open a PDF which then could be traced to create vectors.
Maybe I have misunderstood this?

I will give that a try. I don't remember ever subtracting and having it add on to the bottom. Maybe I just never noticed. I'll let you know.

I am drawing a Prism object that is supposed to be 6" tall finished at the peak. One panel of the prism needs to be recessed evenly by 3/8". So it would be 5- 5/8" tall at the peak.
