Hi All,
Is there a method to create a a new tool with a T-slot profile ?
I have a t slot cutter (12mm diam, 3mm deep, on an 8mm shank) that I can cut with it by creating a 12mm end mill, however this wont work for previewing toolpaths.
Thanks
Lee

Re: Cutting a scallop shell into wood - HELP !
Thanks All,
I'd be looking for ridges.
So to recap, I can model this as a 'positive' component. Add a separate component, just a rectangular block, and subtract one from the other.

Cutting a scallop shell into wood - HELP !
Hi All, I have been having some success with Aspire, mostly importing 3D models from sketchup via STL conversion. For my next project, I would like to carve a scallop shell internal shape into a piece of wood. No matter how I think of this, I cannot figure a way to do it ! Perhaps a series of two ra...

Re: Cropping a BMP to fit within a vector
I hadn't spotted those buttons, thanks Leo - Cropping the componant, not bmp is fine.
Does the component crop in the viewport also as clicking the button doesn't actually seem to do anything ?

Re: Cropping a BMP to fit within a vector
Hi Adrian, Perhaps my explanation wasn't too clear, i'll try again with pictures ! On the attached component (imported from sketchup) Capture.JPG I would like to apply a 'ripple' texture to the second 'step', using the texture tool doesn't really come up with a satisfactory result so my plan was to ...

Cropping a BMP to fit within a vector
Hi guys,
I'm trying to use a BMP to create a texture across a surface, but I don't want to cover the whole surface. Is there any way to crop the BMP so it is only viable within certain vectors drawn underneath it ?
Hope that makes sense !
Cheers
Lee

Will give the 10% a try. Thanks.
Is there anyway of running a finishing path with both X & Y raster paths, similar to some other software packages ?

Re: 3D cutting 'Diaginal Cuts'
Adrian, Thanks for your help so far. I have attached a capture of the 'diagonal' cut, which shows the indents left. I have managed to work the vector from bitmap on greyscale - again, thanks for this advise. Given that my profile cut depths will vary, I can't assign a cut depth and project onto 3D m...

Re: 3D cutting 'Diaginal Cuts'
Hi Adrian, Thanks for the reply. Does the resolution option determine the physical cutting resolution or just the preview image ? My preview looks okay, but it is the phsical cut that has a slight sawtooth. I note that 'create vector boundary' draws a rectangle around my model, is there an option to...

3D cutting 'Diaginal Cuts'
Hi All, I have a question regarding 3D toolpaths. My model (imported STL from sketchup) is shown on the attached aspire screenshots. I managed to run a roughing toolpath which cut fine (6mm endmill, 40% stepover), and a finishing path, 3mm end mill, 20% stepover. The results are generally good, howe...

Re: Tool Choice for a 'road map'
Figured it out, I was trying to pocket a toolpath, not profile. I can totally understand that a pocket needs to be a closed vector.
Out of interest, the V-cut / Engrave options also only allows closed, any ideas why ?
Thanks

wow, I've spent 2 whole days trying to close all my vectors out !!!
I don't know why I thought they had to be closed ?
Thank you guys

Tool Choice for a 'road map'
Hi all, I am trying to engrave into wood a 'roadmap' series of lines, projected onto a 3d topography model. I am encountering a couple of problems: Damn open vectors ! - As painful as it is, I can resolve this by making each 'road' and double line, closed off at each end. The profile of the 'road' o...

Re: Project text onto 3D model
Gotcha, so you would cut the text as a v-carve, not using the quick engrave option (which has no project option)
Thanks for the advise.
PS - Just released I have posted in the wrong section !!
