Cutting Aluminumm
I've been asked several times over the years if a CNC router will cut aluminum...Even though I never have, I've always said most machines will be able to with the right cutter, right feeds and speeds, using a lubricant and keep the cutter cool. Today, I cut a 3/8" thick aluminum plate for a friend j...

Re: Spiral rewind
I have a Centroid controller and I have the same question...There is no mention of an M151 in the manual, and do I add it to the footer of the post processor.
Thanks for any answer and solution.

Re: Struggling newbie needs help please
Check to make sure the "Z" move you are calling for isn't trying to go higher than the "Z" limit switch or soft limit, whichever your machine uses...I've seen that before.

Re: New Rotary Project
Thanks everyone for the kind words...now that I know everything's working right, I can do some more projects. It took awhile to get things working the way I wanted, but the work and time have been worth it...I can't say enough about how well Aspire works for getting ideas into real parts...I'm looki...

New Rotary Project
I just finished this on my new 4th axis rotary...I started with a 2" x 2" x 12" piece of Walnut...I used a 3/4" bowl bit to take the corners off to 2" diameter, then used a 1/16" tapered ballnose bit for carving eagle. It will eventually be a candle holder after I make a base for the bottom and a cu...

Re: First try
When I first started rotary I also has a reversed image. I found that in the post processing file there was a command for the rotary specifying the A axis. It should be -A rather than A, or A rather than -A. Depends on your machine. Then it flips the A Axis. Solved my problem. ROTARY_WRAP_X = "A" o...

First try
My first try at rotary carving...I know it's not perfect, but I'm well pleased with the outcome. Home built CNC using Centroid controller, 3hp air cooled spindle, chinese rotary, cheapest router bits I could find just in case there was a problem. Only issue I really have to resolve is the image is m...

Re: Post processor install issues
There is no Centroid rotary post processor on the main list...I'm in the middle of testing a post for Centroid rotary right now...I'll post it to the forum as soon as I'm sure it works properly. Gary Campbell developed a couple, which I have. I just can't manage a way to install them.... I saw Gary...

Re: Opt 6w Laser
As far as post processors go, you could modify the Laguna post to work with the laser...edit out the "Z" moves and edit in the "laser on" and "laser off" commands, or try one of the "g-code mm laser" posts already in the post processor list. Figuring how to wire the laser to your controller would be...

If I remember correctly, Shopbots will also run on g-code unless things have changed...look in the Shopbot owners manual...If I'm wrong, please accept my apology.

Re: Very slow rotary turning near the outside diameter
Look for a setting for constant surface speed and turn it off...I'm not sure that's an issue as I don't have Mach3, but if constant surface spped is turned on the spindle will rotate slower at larger diameters and speed up as the diameter gets smaller until it reaches a pre-programmed speed...just a...

From reading the original post, I think that is the headstock from the drill operated mini lathe...I may be wrong.
