Thanks for a great project...The "Bookpile Box" was a challenge to make, but absolutely worth it.

Re: G-Wizard Calculator
I've been using G-Wizard for several years...I'm a retired CNC machining instructor, and that's how I got started using it. The values as calculated are always a function of your machine integrity (weight, stability, strength, etc.). Once you have the parameters for your particular machine dialed in...

You might try the Mach 2/3 post to see if that does better.

Re: Compact metal plate engraver
For engraving the materials you are talking about, I would consider a CO2 laser...no clamping involved, just set up the program, lay the part on the grid (maybe in a fixture to create a precision position), and run...biggest worry would be fume extraction....

Re: Odd Oval Shape
If I'm looking at the image the way I think I am, the oval seems to be symmetrical with straight sides. If that's the case, then a simple pocketing operation with the "Z" zero being at the center or thickest point on the part. Make the cut depth the 5/8" depth of the inner point of the oval. Make mu...

Re: Pendant delay and router movement stop
Just for grins, you might want to re-format your usb...if it's one you continually use with lots of programming on it, or continually erase and reload programs, that can cause fragmentation and make things slow down.

Re: What is difference between CNC Shark II and Next Wave - SHARK HD400?
I saw some specs at one time that said the HD 400 had machined linear rails instead of round rails, but now I can't find that and all the pics I've seen show round rails...you may consider making a call or email Next Wave Automation.

I would contact Next Wave Automation and ask their opinion.

Re: Weak Stepper Motor
I ran into a similar problem on a Powermatic (same as Axiom) CNC that I was repairing, except it was the "Y" axis...the ball screw for the axis was causing the ball nut to bind because it wasn't adjusted properly and was causing the carriage to bind in one spot near the end of it's travel...this was...

Re: Spindle recommendations 110v 80mm
Can I ask what 220v Air Cooled you purchased. I have decided to do 220v. I am looking at Automation Technology Inc. https://www.automationtechnologiesinc.com/products-page/cnc-spindles/2200w-3hp-air-cooled-cnc-milling-spindle/ I ordered mine from an e-bay seller (Rattmotor)...it came with the spind...

Re: Y axis different
If you have 2 motors driving the gantry, it sounds like the 2 are not in sync and 1 is losing Or gaining steps...if you can check the motors for equal steps per inch or mm, and check the motors are driving the same when commanded to move a specified distance.

Re: Will Aspire drive a laser?
I use Aspire with my 8.5 watt laser attached to my CNC router...the toolpath is mostly the same as an engraving or profile toolpath...I just had to modify my post so there was no "Z" movement, and called the laser a spindle so the intensity was varied by the speed control...found all the info on "Jt...

Re: outside radius around 3d model
Since you already have the profile, have you thought of using a 1/2" roundover bit....it would be considerably faster than a 2 rail sweep.

Re: Has anyone cut cloth?
I cut vinyl decal material with my CNC and drag knife...I hold the material with a backer made for a "Cricut" machine...it has a slightly tacky surface so the vinyl sheet lays/stays flat...put the backer on the CNC machine with strips of masking tape and cut...should work with cloth...the backer can...
