Re: Plasma CNC

Not a lot of activity here about plasma CNC. PlasmaSpider is an active forum to do with plasma. I use Vectric CAM software to create my toolpaths for plasma. That is mostly because I already have it for use with other CNC machines. It is perfectly capable for Plasma use. However the vast majority of...

Re: Best Machine Controller for 4th axis

I use a PP that I wrote. There is a good PP editing guide in the help menu.

If the OP would like some assistance he .can PM me

Re: Best Machine Controller for 4th axis

I use UCCNC for 4th axis. Works fine.

UCCNC supports G93 code which is great for 4th axis.

Re: Rotating degrees/min

Does the Probotix control support G93 code?

A lot of controllers have inbuilt methods to compensate rotary axis feedrate. Mach3 does.

Almost all controllers will support G93 code.

Vectic software will output G93. Not sure all versions do.

Re: Need advice about rotary turning

Roly

If you have zeroed the A axis and entered A90 in the MDI and the A axis did not move then,

you have a machine setup problem. Chasing Vectric Post Processor problems is pointless at this stage.

Get the A axis connected and set up in Mach3 properly and then you can move onto any futher issues.

Re: Need advice about rotary turning

All WHAT did was slow the whole system to an absolute crawl.

Zero the A axis DRO
Type A360 in the MDI and press enter.
Does the A axis move? Does it do a full turn?

Re: Need advice about rotary turning

If the Goode is calling A axis moves but A axis is not moving, then that is a machine setup issue, not a PP problem.

Is it that the rotary axis does not move or are you just talking about the toolpath view in Mach3?

Those are two different issues.

Re: Cutting into area that ruins the part question

I have never seen this. Is it possible to upload the code used in this example. "What would be easily cleared when the material is uwrapped flat can often end up in the way once the toolpaths are bent around the actual cylindrical model." This is a misunderstanding of the wrapping of a toolpath. The...

Leo

We use a ton of this bamboo ply.

Laser cut and engraved. 1.5 2.5 and 4.3mm mostly

This supplier is obviously in Australia but I am sure it is available in US

Re: Nesting Multiple Materials in the same file

I regularly nest a large number of odd shapes onto different material sheets. On type of material is standard cut to 800 x 600 and others 800 x 500. I simply set material size to one size, nest all the shapes that need to be cut from that and export the nest to a file type ready for the laser. Then ...

Re: engraving numbers with the wrapped output

Just to add to Gerry's info, If you want to have Z axis origin on the outer diameter of the cylinder rather than the center of rotation, then enter the radius value in the "Rotation Radius DRO". Or more correctly, the amount that the Z axis origin is above the center of rotation. Mach3 needs to know...

Re: gcode resetting my surface zero to Z-0.200"

Has anyone ran the small file, how did it act? Not much point me running your crv file. First I must post process it and it won't be with the same PP as you use. Do you have an ATC or are you using fixed length tooling? If not then why use an ATC PP? Or I should ask, what PP are you using? What if ...

Re: Trying to avoid buying other software

Mark has gone above and beyond! He wrote a script for my post processor which automatically inserts the required G28 process if the start points on the vectors to be cut are further away than a specified distance. All I have to do is select the vectors and generate a toolpath as per normal. I'm ecs...

The things we do with a CNC router :)

The things we do just because we can. :D Servicing my son's car I needed to replace the timing belt. The pulleys tend to spring out of position once the belt is removed, due to valve springs pushing on the camshaft Tools are available to secure the camshaft pulleys in alignment while changing the be...
