Your native units in Mach3 are different from your g-code units.
In Mach3, set your native units to inches. Then do your motor tuning.
Then, make sure your g-code has a G20 in it, and not a G21.
(I'd also recommend switching to UCCNC)

Re: material for measuring scales and angle scales
I'd look into having them laser cut and engraved from thin stainless steel. Not as expensive as you might think.

In Aspire, under the File menu, select Open Application Data folder. It should be in there.fixtureman wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 4:31 pmNow I have to find the post processor for aspire 8.5 on a windows 11 machine.

Re: 1/2" Baltic birch drawer sides
Most people use 1/2 the bit width as the depth as a rule of thumb. I prefer to cut shallower and go faster. I prefer to cut deeper and faster. My "rule of thumb" is cut depth = bit diameter for tools 1/4" and less, and even deeper for larger bits. 1/4" deep with a 1/4" tool is not a problem at all,...

My preference is measure and draw. I have access to a plotter, so I can print out test prints to compare.

Re: CNC stops randomly while cutting
Is Mach3 stopping? Or does Mach3 continue to run, and the machine stops moving?
If Mach3 is stopping, there will usually be some type of error message on the screen.

Re: Decimal Precision
My approach when I need to work in metric is to draw everything in metric, and then scale the entire drawing at one time to convert to inches. Then you don't have to worry about rounding errors between entities. I work in a cabinet shop, where we work in inches, but most of our hardware machining is...

Even a 3/8" tool would be much better.

While it would require some additional work with the .dxf files, adding Toolpath Templates to the mix can automate the entire process.

Re: Looking to hire someone to design a 3d model
Couple things that come to mind. $7 does not seem like a lot. You'd have to be able to make about 20-25 per hour to make any money at that price. Making wood parts accurate to .001" is not going to be easy. Your hot glue is going to be maybe .005" thick? Personally, I'd be making some table saw jigs...

Re: Cutting Festool domino mortise holes
It's just a rectangle with a radiused end, it would probably be quicker to just measure the width of each size rather than try to find the info from festool   Yes, and the thicknesses are all metric sizes, either 5, 6, 8, or 10mm. The Festool website has the widths, which are all close to...

Re: How to export from Rhino3D to V-Carve?
If it's not too complicated, I'd just do 2D drawings real quick. Probably even if it was really complicated, too.
Unless you have an automated solution, you'll spend more time trying to bring the 3D parts in.

Re: How to export from Rhino3D to V-Carve?
Is this the main type of work you do? If so, unless you have software to automate the process, you're wasting your time creating 3D models. Unless every cabinet is a one-off custom and you need 3D for one reason or another. But it's definitely not the way to do it in a production environment. I've b...
