Re: Error on Circle Resize Gadget

Can you take a screenshot of those "circles" selected in Node Edit mode? I don't think they are circles. What are you exporting from?

Re: Spoil Board Resurface Question

Yes, to pull vacuum through it. You need to surface both sides to get better airflow through it.

We remove .01", then flip it, and remove .01" from the other side.

I think you can still fly anywhere. We were supposed to go to Vancouver at the end of the summer, and I can book flight now if I want. But we're probably going to wait until next year.

Re: Prevent Scaling

If you use the Move tool (shortcut key M) or the arrow keys to move your selection, the scale won't change. The Rotate tool (shortcut R) also does not change the scale. Problem solved. If you want to move with the mouse, even using the Move and Rotate tool can still result in inadvertent scaling. W...

Re: Prevent Scaling

I think independent Move and Rotate functions would greatly enhance the software.
You don't have to remove the current functionality.
Just allow Move and Rotate that won't affect anything else.
With keyboard shortcuts, this could make certain operations much faster.

Come on team, it can't be that hard of a question....
I'll rephrase it. Can you generate g-code for a lathe using vcarve desktop.
Yes, it's the same as creating code for a 3 axis machine. You just need a post that eliminates the Z axis moves.

Re: MDF Bits

Also, try to use the largest bit you can, as a 1/2" bit will last a lot longer than a 1/4" bit.

Re: Seperate drawing package, which one to buy?

Inkscape is not a CAD program either. Not even close. I didn't realize that Draftsight was subscription now. It was completely free for many years. There are lots of options out there. TurboCAD DesignCAD ViaCAD ACTCAD (formerly IntelliCAD) I used DesignCAD many years ago, as it was very easy to use....

Re: Seperate drawing package, which one to buy?

My 2 cents. While I haven't used it in a while, TurboCAD, has always been the least intuitive CAD program I've ever used, and I've been using CAD programs for almost 30 years. My recommendation would be Draftsight https://www.3ds.com/products-services/draftsight-cad-software/?wockw=Draftsight Illust...

Re: Suggestions on Cutting Avonite?

There are two types of Avonite. Acrylic, which is basically the same as Corian. And Polyester. The polyester is lighter weight, and very brittle. Smells like fiberglass when you cut it. If you are 3D carving it, either should cut the same. If you are cutting shapes from the polyester stuff, make sur...

Your machine's control handles acceleration and deceleration, not V Carve. There's no g-code for acceleration.

Re: V Grove Fold joint

We periodically do large runs of miter folded parts. I use both 90° and 91° bits. With the 91°, you need to make sure your corners stay square when you glue them up, as the extra 1° will let them fold over too far. But we do use the 91° for most parts, and it's especially good with Corian and othe s...
