Thanks so much for the advice, just what I needed. These came out better than I expected.

Two sided snowman
I am making the the Santa and snowman using v-carve pro 10.5. I can’t find instructions on how to add tabs for cutting the back side of the snowman. Is this possible? Or do I need to cut the front and back separately then glue them together?

Re: edge lit acrylic sign question
Well, that was much easier than I thought.
Both were carved (engraved) at 10,000 rpm / 100 ipm.
Thanks for the advise / encouragement.

edge lit acrylic sign question
I want to make an edge lit acrylic sign approx 8 X12” that says
“ON AIR” In large block letters.
My question is, will A shallow pocket tool path of the entire letter with an end mill produce a quality result or would it
Look better using a profile v-bit cut on the vector?

Adding bowl bit to tool database
I’m adding a 3/4” bowl &tray bit to my database. Does it matter if it’s entered as a form tool or a radiused end mill?

You may find information on this issue on the CNC SHARK FORUM,

I owned a shark a few years ago and this is not an uncommon problem.

Re: Gantry flex
My first CNC was a Shark Black Diamond with the plastic back gantry plate. I was able to measure the deflection when the router was centered in the X direction. I ordered the aluminum back plate from NWA and that fixed the problem. If you search the Shark forum there are several posts on this issue.

Re: Garden sign
I've had no issues with pvc dust or chips clinging to anything. For me chip/dust control is same as wood. I do use dust control as I carve. Have no experience carving PVC 3D models.

Re: Garden sign
My local store sells many different sizes and thicknesses. For my sign I bought a 3/4" 2'X4' sheet for about $30.00. They also have various size sheets in 1/4" & 1/2".
I have noticed that not all Home Depot stores in my area have it.

Re: VCP on a Windows 10 Tablet - Anyone?
I replaced my laptop with a surface pro 3 with windows 10 about two years ago. It's faster, lighter and more user friendly I'm using VCarve pro 8.5. I won't switch back. I do use it mostly for design work. Although it has touch screen capability I plug in a mouse. I use my iPad for most internet bro...

Re: Pocket toolpath question
My second toolpath with the ballnose added 1/4" to the depth to get the rounded edge, but the stopover was to much leaving a rough surface so I did a third pass at .005 depth. Next time I'll use the offset.

Re: Pocket toolpath question
So, it wasn't the direction of cut but the depth the cut vs. radius. As suggested I recalculated at full depth, ran a simulation and all is well. The tool data was incorrect at "13" , fortunately I was watching when the toolpath started and was able to pause while I manually adjusted the speed. That...

Re: Pocket toolpath question
The first two toolpaths are cutting inside the vector leaving the correct dimensions in my workpeace. The only thing different on the third path is it cuts .003 deeper and the opposite direction and it is centering "on" the vector rather than offsetting 1/4 inch inside like the first two.
