Re: Users group 2010 Fireplace picture?

Perhaps you are referring to the egg and dart molding around the firebox opening. Instead of worrying about the corner miters I machined the top as an inverted 'U' (left side shown in picture) and the remaining side segments were just straight pieces. This is not the way I would have normally done i...

Re: Users group 2010 Fireplace picture?

Hi Bill,

I'm the one that made the mantel that James designed for the Memphis UG meeting.

Is this the picture you are thinking of?

Re: Clip Art Access

I opened it on the screen and did a "Save As". Now I have a PDF I can copy to any folder and open. You can also use Windows Explorer set to medium size icons or larger to see actual images of the files. Let us know if you need help figuring out how to do this. Or, perhaps you can better explain what...

Not sure if it is automatically installed with VCP, but you can go to the following webpage and download it from there:

Re: Moving origin to the centre of a feature

Realize with this design you could have simply selected the inner circle and opened the move tool to find the center. But it was good to use the Span/Contour Properties feature of the Measure Tool as many seem to have missed that and it can be very powerful for more complex designs. Good luck with y...

Re: Moving origin to the centre of a feature

Here is one method that works because the center is a circle. Open the Measure Tool and select "Span/Contour Properties" near the middle of the window. Now select the inner circle and the tool will tell you the center of the arc is at X = 1.95, Y = 0. Close the tool. Now select all the vectors and o...

Re: Carved Leaf

The file is in Cut3D native format, .v3d, and will only open in Cut3D. To save toolpaths you need a licensed copy of Cut3D, the trial version will not help.

Re: Limit work depth in 3d roughing toolpaths

What I have done is to create a "machining base" using the Create Shape tool and flat Planar surface option. Make it larger than the model and set the height to the amount of material you want to leave. Then set it's combine mode to Merge and have both it and the model visible (box checked next to t...

Re: Carved Leaf

Hi Alan,

It is one of the sample files included with Cut3D.

If you have Cut3D installed on your computer it will be in the Sample Files folder for Cut3D in the C:\\ Program Files (or Program Files (x86)) directory.

Re: Tiling

Janz, Cut3D does not offer the option to tile large projects, however you can use Cut3D to prepare the project and toolpaths and then import those into VCP and use the tile toolpath function there. VCP does not know what type of toolpaths it is tiling, it simply stops/starts toolpaths at the specifi...

If you are trying to enter a tapered ball nose bit you would enter it as a Radiused Engraving bit being sure to enter the side angle and not included angle.

I scanned ShopbotTools.com for PC recommendations, and didn't find anything.
If you read Adrian's post above you will see where he has provided the necessary link.

Re: User Manual

Yes it does. Open Aspire and go to File>Open Application Data Folder and there will be a shortcut there to the Reference Manual.
