Re: Plastic cutting boards

Would you by chance remember your bit type, and speeds used? For the names I used a 1/16” tapered ball nose, 18,000rpm at 100in/min For the drip trough I used a 3/8” ball nose, 20,000rpm at 80in/min For the handle finish cut and the cutting board profile I used a 1/4 end mill profile cut, 14,000rpm...

Re: Breaking down components in clipart

Yes, You can draw vectors and split the component apart into separate components so that they can be rearranged as needed.

Longboard - cruiser

My son spent part of his spring break, designing and building a new longboard. IMG_1798.JPG IMG_1797.JPG He designed the shape in Aspire himself and he did the majority of the wood work on the board as well, under my watchful eye of course. I am really proud of the detail he put into it, even adding ...

Re: Wide Boards - where to get!

I've been making small wood signs for a few years. Most are 7" x 12". I get most of the wood from a local lumber yard, Lowes or Home Depot. I usually use red oak or cedar. I'd like to make some larger signs, perhaps 18" x 18" but don't know where to get wide lumber. Sign makers, where do you secure...

Re: Divide a design

I know the current version of Vcarve has a function called "tiled toolpath", but I don't recall what version that was rolled out in. That function has what you need.

Re: Two Sided Dinner Plate

While I don't plan on detailing out the whole process, and I am sure there are many ways to get there...here is the broad strokes for what I did for my last two sided bowl. First create a rectangle with the same thickness as your blank. Then create two vectors for the sweep you want to create inside...

Re: Aspire

The short answer is yes. You can create a component from an image. BUT...if you plan on making a detailed relief of a face or some other complex model, you will have to do some actual modeling. Not just convert an image.

E.T.A - mostly I use that function to create grain patterns or textures

Another 24" sign with a faux sandblasted look

I set up another 24" diameter sign with a faux sandblasted look. Maple blank with the top surface painted black prior to carving. The sandblasted grain component was created using an image of a wood grain pattern, converted to a relief component. The sign took about 4hrs to carve using a 1/8" ball n...

Re: preview waste material will not delete

Looking at the image it does not look like you actually previewed the profile toolpath. Without doing that, there is no waste material. Maybe I am wrong but that is what it looks like...
