Re: Need help creating an ancient Greek Shield

That is pretty much it. I drew about the same thing after watching the tutorial on the teddy bear face. I have some extra 3/4" LDF leftover from replacing my vacuum spoil board. I am thinking of gluing it together and using that to carve the shield from. I am a long ways from having it figured out. ...

Re: Need help creating an ancient Greek Shield

I found a tutorial on making a teddy bear head that will get me started. One of the challenges I see is I want to concave the back a little and the face of the shield will be domed. If I carve out the concave on the back first I am wondering if my vacuum will hold well while carving the face?

Need help creating an ancient Greek Shield

I have Aspire ver 9.5 my grandson wants me to help him make a ancient Greek shield replica for school. I have no idea how to create the vectors. Although I have Aspire I really only do 2d type work on a regular basis. I have some left over LDF I wanted to use to make a fairly simple shape in layers....

Re: Box Creator allowance for tabs

I am getting ready to make drawer boxes. I am using undermount Blum type drawer slides. Has anyone ever done this? I have a few specific questions my material is 1/2" but measures .465" with my caliper. Should the allowance be a + number or a negative number to allow for a good fit? I have entered m...

Re: G84 rigid tapping cycles?

Gundawg, I think you are reading a bit much into this discussion. A lot of us are aware that developing software has limitations that involve resources, namely money. So some would rather see "features" added that apply to carving signs and decorative type work. Keep in mind that Vectric markets th...

Re: G84 rigid tapping cycles?

I am sure that Vectric is used in many professional applications where the machines are of a caliber to do rigid tapping. I had a CR Onsrud twin spindle router at one time that was capable. I have worked with many many metal cutting machining centers, including Haas, yasnac, fanuc brother and sever...

Re: G84 rigid tapping cycles?

Rigid tapping is not thread milling. Rigid tapping requires a spindle with an absolute encoder meaning it knows exactly where it is in a 360 degree circle rotation ( think indexer). The tap is inserted in exactly the same orientation if it does a peck. The spindle must also have breaking and reverse...

Re: G84 rigid tapping cycles?

I think some of you are a little short sided because it is not something you need. I realize Aspire is a router based system but by adding threading features it opens the software to a new customer base. I have looked at CAD CAM systems that are designed for milling operations most are very expensiv...

Re: G84 rigid tapping cycles?

Can you do them via comments in the toolpath and changes to the PP? That's they way a lot of people add toolpath specific G codes. I am not sure what you mean by this. Can you post an example? What I plan to try and do for now is to add an extra drilling path and edit that cycle hand coding the G84...

G84 rigid tapping cycles?

Will Aspire ever support rigid tapping? I use Aspire for my business to program my CNC router and use it also with my VMC that has rigid tapping. Aspire seems to do everything I need except tapping. I have to program at the control for tapping which really slows things up. I just recently with the h...

Re: Siemens 828d post processor

I tested the inch post today after fixing the problem I was having and I am happy to say it all worked great. The test went good and I needed to edit a file I had made in Shop Mill that would have taken me 2 hours to edit I was able to use Aspire and the new PP less than 10 minutes I was machining. ...

Re: Siemens 828d post processor

I place at the end of the PP a Z200 after you need change to inches this will have become 200 inches instead of of mm hence software limit violation. You need to change it to something like 1.00 the you will be fine I am sure. That must be it I will check it tomorrow. If it works I will post the ed...

Re: Siemens 828d post processor

I made a new PP using the one you posted but converted it to inches. My simple test file was a 5" circle that I did an outside profile on with a .250" end mill making 2 passes with a ramp into the cut that worked great coolant was turned on and off. It then did a tool change and I did a pocket with ...
