Re: Tapered tools in the tool database
Could you make one final inside pass with a single flute 1/8" bit?
And I can send you the tool for the database if you want. Email me at impactimagegroup@gmail.com if you need it.

Re: Tapered tools in the tool database
I just went through the same thing. I fixed it by redrawing that exact bit as a form tool. I don't think you'll be able to get that square edge with that bit.

Re: Cutting vinyl records on CNC
The drag knife won't do it.
I'd treat it like acrylic.

The last thing I built is the first thing I should've built
So I got tired of a 3 x 8 work table that I could never work on because it became the resting place for all the sh!t I use around the shop. I also got tired of walking 60 feet to find the tool I needed. I got some inspiration from Adam Savage (of Mythbusters) and a video he put up touring his "cave"...

Re: If you aren't slicing....
Great job. I'll have to visit Charleston to see it at the restaurant and have a great meal while I'm there. Dan it will hang inside of the Oyster House on Market. I did their exterior sign as well. I curfed the plywood backer to give the appearance of beaded T&G slats. The client wanted a heavy glo...

If you aren't slicing....
....then you are missing out on a POWERFUL weapon! I was commissioned/challenged by one of my favorite customers to make a 48" tall, brass oyster to decorate his new seafood restaurant in downtown Charleston. I glued up two sheet of .75" styrofoam sheeting (insulation) with 3M spray adhesive and had...

How hard can it be to create half a skinny donut???
Pretty hard apparently. I designed a simple scroll pattern to decorate the top of a sign before I figured out if I could model it or not. I'm trying to create what would look like 9 skinny donuts stacked side by side...on end. They would get gradually smaller from the center out. (I don't even know ...

Simple little serving tray
The wife and I are attending a wedding this weekend so guess who got to make the gift. I used up the last of my cypress flooring on this one. Pretty simple cuts but had a hell of a time with machining marks from the planing bit. I screwed up and ran a pass 90 degrees to the damn grain. There's a few ...

Re: Arrrgh matey's
I would appreciate your help to understand lighting of the ENTRANCE sign. Where does the white light come from? My first thought is the letters that show in white are cut on the front side of the acrylic and are illuminated from the house spotlights. The red leds then provide back light, not edge l...

My initial thought is that you could use a bull nose bit on an appropriately offset vector inside your pocket.

Re: Arrrgh matey's
I use http://www.superbrightleds.com/. I'm sure I pay a little more than I would elsewhere but there stuff has been very reliable. Lots of different power options, from solder-on leads to wire nut connections. The round sign above used a solder-on pigtail with a barrel connector that plugged into a ...

The "white" is etched with a diamond engraving bit.
