Fireman Family Day
My son is a Fireman and every year they have a Family Day celebration for the men and women of the fire department and their families. This is my contribution to the door prizes this year, a carved flag and a cast label pen with carved pen box.

Re: Flag Plaque
Thanks for comments, appreciate them. Wow Sharkcutup, your vectors of the poster would make a very nice carving. While I have done stacked text carving, they are nowhere near that complex. I did get a pen and box made. I took the poster art work, scaled it down to fit a pen plank, printed out a labe...

Flag Plaque
For the last several years I have made a plaque and donated it to a local Veterans support group that holds a gumbo cookoff to help raise funds for local veterans. They raffle it off and the response has always been great. They have a theme to go along with the cookoff and the theme for this year wi...

Ring Box
My Niece was getting married and ask if I could make a ring box for the wedding, as the Ring Bearer said he wasn't carrying a pillow. All she asked was that the wood had a history to it. I came up with the idea to use some Sinker Cypress that was harvested in the early 1800's. As with a lot of the t...

Re: VCarve Pro & Desktop 11.5 are OUT NOW!
I am still using Version 9.5, can I jump to V11.5 and what would be the advantages. 9.5 did what I wanted to do, so never saw a need to upgrade.

No Place Like Gnome
Our turning club is one of the clubs making Gnomes for the SWAT Symposium in Waco Tx this year. So I decided that I needed a display sign for the ones I will showing in the gallery section. A family member added a little color to the butterfly and mushroom. The wood is Cherry with a spray lacquer fi...

I want to "engrave" or basically etch the surface of this, a piece of metal, on the cnc. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Would I use a ball nose bit or something else. I want to put "Est. 10/27/1973" on it.
Thanks

Re: scaleing a project
Thanks for the comments , I appreciate them. Got the project sized and completed. S-I-L was well pleased with the sign, so I'm happy. Painted the lettering and used some mica power and CA glue for the inlay's.

EST. sign
Well, after the customer changed their mind three times on what they wanted on the sign, it is complete.
The wood is Cherry, I vcarved the lettering, painted black and then put a red stain on the barn. I used spray lacquer for the
final finish.

Thanks for the comments, appreciate them. The thread and needle are mica power and soaked with super thin CA glue, then sanded smooth.

Well, I finally got the shape of the board traced and scaled correctly, and a few trial and errors on positioning the board on the machine table correctly, job complete. Just waiting to put the final coat of finish on it and it will be delivered to S-I-L. This will hang above the door of her sewing ...

scaleing a project
I am making a sign for my S-I-L and I took a picture of the piece of wood she wants it on. I was going to import it into my program and trace the outline shape of the board to make sure I get the lettering right and in the correct position. I remember seeing a video tutorial on how to scale the proj...
