Re: Where to set Z-Zero
I've also thought about this, my cabinet nesting software is all z ht. off the spoil board.... but from day one i've always set my aspire z off the material top I think I do it that way all the time out of habit? realistically when profiling setting your hts of the spoil board is probably safer as l...

Re: Feedback for a new Router
techno in new hyde park new York closed last september, the name was taken over by a few of the sales people and engineers that worked for designtronics( the parent company thats still in business ) from what I've heard they are, or trying to continue to import the foreign machines. I don't think th...

Re: Some more CNC assisted work from my shop
I have no problem at all when woodworkers tell me that CNC takes the "heart and soul" out of woodworking. To me they are simply in a state of "innocence" and have absolutely no vision as to what can be done with CNC and a highly skilled programmer operator - along with a bit of help from a great CA...

Re: vector boarder and lg. clearance tool
Are you referring to the 'Pocket Allowance' ? It is visible when you check the 'Show advanced toolpath options' box. Follow the pocket with an inside-cutting profile with the smaller tool, and no allowance. that sound like what i'm looking for.... I will check it out thanks for all the suggestions,...

Re: vector boarder and lg. clearance tool
my z might be a slight bit out... although the real test of that is when i run my 4" spoil board surfacer, I just ran it and I can't feel any real ridge between passes I'm surprised there's no way to hold the larger tool in from the vector boundary a few thousand's and clean up the permitter in one ...

vector boarder and lg. clearance tool
is there a way to hold the large clearance tool in from the vector boarder and clean up the perimeter with the smaller bit I'm using a 1.5" surfacing bit to pocket a majority of the area, but I need to take multiple passes in my z axis which leaves lines at each pass at the edge any suggestions? Tha...

Re: Spoilboards (revisited)
I resurfaced my spoilboard over the weekend and use a similar strategy to what Tim's doing except I left the board at 49"x97" and set the material up in Aspire as 49.5"x97.5" and it gets the whole thing using an 1.25" mortising bit. MY SHEET IS 49 X 97. I am using a 1 ½ bit and it leaves a space ar...
