Re: Help for VCarve Engraving on a Convex Surface
Thanks for all your help. Here is the results I’m getting making personalized Drumsticks. With V-Carve Pro Desktop v8.5 I imported a simple Circular Model and resized it to the Drumstick diameter. Then I created the text, converted it to curves and cleaned it up for engraving with the node edit tool...

Re: Questions on Dragknife Use and setup
All good information! I didn't see the detail about entering the tool as a dummy endmill. I know my eyes are failing per my eye doctors confirmation last week. My new eyeglasses, when I get them, will only correct my left eye. So it will have to work twice as hard. Thanks for pointing out what shoul...

Questions on Dragknife Use and setup
I'm interesting in using a dragknife on my Nextwave CNC Shark HD 2 to cut card stock, vinyl and maybe sign board. I'm working with VCarve Pro Desktop v8.5. I also, see I have the Dragknife Gadget Dragknife Toolpath Gadget Settings Dsplay .jpg But, when I review the Tool Database I don't see a catego...

Re: Help for VCarve Engraving on a Convex Surface
ADZE and others: Ok I made the changes to my tool database by entering the Micro-engraving bit as an Engraving bit as shown in the screen capture. I also edited the tool path to select the engraving tool. Rods Tool Database - Engraving 1.jpg New Drumstick Engraving Toolpath View.jpg I'll probably tr...

ADZE:
I actually entered this tool as a V-Bit. It sounds like this is a mistake and I should re-enter it as Engraving with a side angle of 30. Is this correct? I'll take a look at the speed information you sent tomorrow.
Many thanks!

ADZE Wizard:
Yes that's the bits I'm trying. Do you have any advice on feed rates using the VCarve Engrave strategy on hardwood?
Also, I like your suggestion of creating a finishing toolpath for preview only. I have done this in the past but not in a long time.
Thanks for your input!

Re: Help for VCarve Engraving on a Convex Surface
Adrian: You make this look simple. Now for the "smoke test"! I have never worked with Micro size tools before. I found the setting here: Project toolpath on 3D Model.jpg With the toolpath selected the model is visible Tool Path Selected.jpg However the model is not displayed in the preview. But, I c...

Re: Help for VCarve Engraving on a Convex Surface
Steve: That's exactly what I'm trying to do. I just don't know the correct steps. I thought I had to add the text to the components page in project. In the older version of VCarve Pro. I don't see anything on the tool tab to accomplish this. Are you using VCarve Pro? Please advise! Have a great day!...

Reference VCarve Pro Desktop v8.5 / CNC Shark HD2. I’m attempting to VCarve Engrave text on a drumstick. I have limited experience with the 3D Model Tools. So far, I was able to import a circular component and adjust the properties to approximate dimensions of the actual drumstick as depicted in my ...

Re: Troubleshooting VCarve v8.5 w. CNCShark CP v2.1
As always you guys are right-on and have saved this old-timer time and frustration. The problem was the plunge rate setting for the new tool added to the tool database.
Thank you all and have a great day!

Re: Troubleshooting VCarve v8.5 w. CNCShark CP v2.1
Marcel,
Your on to something! You have jogged this old-timers brain matter!
I entered a new tool into the database with this one. I will go back and check the feed rate settings and try again. I'm not well versed in reading G-code. Hope that's the issue.
Thanks..... Rod

Re: Pepper Grinders
Nice job blmac5! We made some pepper grinders using the same grinder assembly available from Woodcraft. We built our own version (economy version) of a 4th axis assembly. You can review my pepper grinder here. http://www.cncsharktalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1521&hilit=pepper+grinder&start=130#p2457...
