Re: Edge for Simulated Stone Tablets

I expect a search via Google / Bing / DuckDuckGo for:

ten commandment stone tablet STL file

will generate many potentials.

Trying to clear that last half inch against something else I need to use a much smaller bit.
Were you perhaps using the "Raster" clearance strategy with the "Profile Pass" set to none?

Re: What on earth is going on? really stuck, need help!

I realise now that V-Carve is hardly an engineering package, to be precise to 0.5 of a millimeter when positioning your vectors is proving to be quite difficult. I'm really having a difficulty understanding the difficulties with the precision of VCarve mentioned above. I drew a square with its lowe...

I expect that the vectors for the toolpath were manually selected? Here's where using the vector selector to select closed vectors by layer rules.

Re: Alternative to native 3DConnexion Support

Over the past many years I’ve never had crashes or had to reinstall driver no matter how many updates of compatible programs or Windows versions. Need to recalibrate every once in awhile to satisfy Rhinoceros 3D but that’s trivial.

Not too sure why you’re having such difficulties.

Re: 4th Axis question

Both images show the stock being rotated around the x-axis. The help file emphasizes the axis that non-rotational moves will cut along—the x-axis—while the pop-up emphasizes that rotational moves will cut along the y-axis.

Re: Incorrect scale factor

To clarify FixitMike's suggestion: use a decimal scaling factor less than one (e.g. 0.65).

Re: Todd's Wonkey zero plane

I expect that it's simply a 2-rail sweep of that vector, that he pointed out, from front to back of the material. It's a modelled component acting as a "zero plane" and not an actual zero plane.

Re: Plane cut 3d model above a specific Z value

It's 3D - I scanned the hard case and imported the .stl . The cutout needs to fit the curved outer edges and the domed top of the guitar hard case. The project is not 3D because of the STL model it is 3D because of the arched top of the guitar case, which was not in evidence from the screenshots. M...

I think Scott's point was that the information is available via a search engine such as Google or Bing or DuckDuckGo try the terms: bathymetry surveys bathymetric map to STL topological map to STL with sea floor Here's an interesting article: https://hi.stamen.com/creating-3d-bathymetric-maps-with-2...

... STL file with layers ... Still seems odd that it would have those names to me but if it worked for you before then you're probably best to report it to Vectric. Adrian, I just tried importing an STL file as a rotary job into VCarve v9.5, The layers "Zero Plane" and "Bounding Box" were not in th...
