Re: Rim around my model

I haven't had a chance to look at the file but I would suspect that if you click on Material Setup in the toolpath sidebar you'll find a gap above the model. Make that zero in all should be better.

You might need to add a ubiquitous "zero plane" to make the edge cut smoothly.

Re: Pocket Toolpath not Ramping plunge moves

Or you could keep the smaller stepover and use the "Spiral Gadget" and a profile toolpath instead of a pocket toolpath. Gadget download link.

Re: Enlarge screen view

Perhaps a screen shot of what you consider to be poor details might help us. Windows has a built-in snipping tool for taking screenshots and saving the image to a file. You can even draw highlights and annotations. The saved image file (png or jpg) can be uploaded as an attachment here. https://yout...

Re: Vcarve Help Troubleshoot

Good question. I suspect that unless you have a really specific problem and are directed to set it by support that it's an option you can safely ignore.

...square one.

It is possibly a stupid question but can I just add it to the End Mill category and record it's tool type as End Mill...
Effectively the tool is a "square one" and as such an "end mill" is the tool type.

Re: text cutting backwards

Without any comparator in the photo (e.g. a coin) it's difficult to tell whether the image should be rotated 180 degrees making the text "backwards" (flipped through a vertical axis) or UpsideDown (flipped through a horizontal axis). Having rotated the image 180 degrees it looks more natural than it...

Re: Group Toolpaths from Separate Sheets

If you have an automatic tool changer I can sort of see why you might want to group toolpaths from what are disparate projects. But, if you don't have one why wouldn't saving like cutter toolpaths separately and running them sequentially work? Unless you're zeroing off the machine bed you might have...

Re: Cutting fine lines in Vectric. How?

Quick Engrave is meant to be used with a drag bit (usually diamond-tipped). The preview of such a toolpath never really looks convincing.

Try a profile toolpath "on the line". And set a cut depth of whatever you think will look good.

Re: Tool pass depth vs pocket depth

From the VCarve 9.5 docs:
To apply either method click the associated Set Passes button to create the resulting set of pass depths in the passes list and diagram.

Re: imported svg has duplicates of some vectors in cut2d desktop

It could very well be that there are two in the originating program but they are grouped so appear to be as one. Or, if it is Illustrator, they might be a compound path that is "exploded" on export.

GIGO seems more likely than only some singles importing as duplicates.

Re: Latest update 11.554 is freezing.

Now that you've done many things at once (instead of the step by step course). Try turning off the software renderer to see if the video driver update and optimization tweaks helped.

The whole point of not using the software renderer is an increased speed in graphics due to hardware acceleration.

Re: Resize STL model

A 2D version of why scaling after is bad: take a vector (path, curve, etc.) of a triangle. Scaling up or down maintains the geometry and relative shape. Now, take a picture of the screen. You now have a bitmap—pixels. When you scale that up 2x then every single pixel becomes 4 pixels (2 by 2 block)....

Gigahertz and cores… oh, my!

Try going into settings and turn software video renderer on. If that works then see if an updated video driver from Dell is available.
