Re: tool database

A "v-bit with a flat tip" should be entered as an engraving bit.

Re: VCarve - support of 3MF file format

While some of the Vectric team do follow these boards a feature request is best served by sending an e-mail to: support@vectric.com From the 3MF Consortium FAQ: Does 3MF support laser cutters, CNC machines, etc.? 3MF is focused on additive manufacturing; it can be used with CNC or laser cutters, but...

Re: Chamfer toolpath (what am I missing?)

While I admit that I've never used the chamfer toolpath and your explanation is a little bit difficult to follow I suspect you're not quite understanding the chamfer toolpath. There are two ways to use it: using a v-bit using a ball-end bit With the v-bit the chamfer toolpath will cut a chamfer 1/2 ...

Re: Sheets are a great idea unless you want to use more than one STL model in your design

The new sheets implementation is great. If only I could convince my "powers that be" to authorize an upgrade from v9.5 to the new v11. I'm afraid your rant is bound to fall upon deaf ears here as this board is user to user (mostly). If you really want to be heard try: support@vectric.com Having said...

set the DOC to something like .480 and then either create a finish toolpath with a start depth .480 and the .5 DOC
To original poster: if you use this technique, the start depth is 0.480 but the cut depth should be 0.02 for a total of 0.50 not 0.980 as the above will do.

Re: V-Carve Inlay Tear Out

The pocket side came out fine, just these thin areas. ... My settings are: .13 Start Depth .08 Flat Depth I'm curious. Is this image of the "pocket side" (a.k.a. female)? It does look like it is cut so that a plug (a.k.a. male) piece would fit into it. If it is indeed the pocket that the inlayed pl...

Re: Drawings resized?

Following up Adrian's comment. I've seen DEG and DXF exported from Solidworks where the person exporting the file was working in 2:1 scale but did not specify 1:1 for the export so Soldworks exported the file at half-scale. Perhaps something similar is going on here?

Re: Why no 3d tabs check box sometimes?

It was the Show Advanced Toolpath Options was not checked. I never noticed that option up there! And yet it must have been been clicked so that you couldn't see the 3D tab option. Unless you were doing this on two separate computers and computer one had it checked and computers two didn't. If two d...

Re: Why no 3d tabs check box sometimes?

Why is there sometimes no 3d tabs check box in my 2D Profile Toolpath dialog box? An Aspire / VCarve file is not always necessary but does help. A screen shot (easily done with the Windows Snipping tool — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snipping_Tool ) can be just as useful. See attached image. Some ...

Re: v carve and pocket toolpaths not cutting to lines

For instance, a VBit stepover is a percentage of tool Diameter. An Engraving bit stepover is a percentage of the Tip Flat! That's why I rarely think about step-overs in terms of percentages. I pretty much always think in terms of absolute distances (e.g. 0.03 inches) that way it doesn't really matt...

Draw a circle around the outside of the star. Use the size tool to change the size of that circle to 16.75mm (Anchor set to centre).

Re: Aspire - rotary issues

I keep trying to uncheck 'Flip design' but it keeps coming back (not sure what this does anyway). Cut and paste from the manual (there's plenty of useful information in it): When this option is enabled, the design will be flipped when the orientation is changed That is if checked then when you chan...

Re: Error with find open vectors

The solution to these sorts of problems is usually that the open vectors are grouped together with closed vectors. The select open vectors option then can't find them.
