Another caveat regarding SVG files: sometimes SVGs created on a macOS machine loaded into Windows will need to be scaled to resolve poorly encoded "dots per inch" differences between macOS and Windows machines.
PDF and EPS would be much more preferred.

You'll do well to familiarize yourself with the Reference Guide.

- what program are you using to view it?
- does the job have any 2D drawing (i.e. is is a 3D model only)

Re: Nesting!! Can we do something about it?
Selection of options within the nesting screen can also affect things. Sometimes choosing to nest along X is better than along Y (or vice versa ). Setting a border gap to 0 can often produce a result which when you center the resulting vectors in the material gives similar if not better border gaps....

Re: toolpath to clean up corners
I imagine that the original poster want it to work somewhat like a pocket toolpath except that instead or running the small cutter entirely around the vector shape the toolpath would just create the corner cleanups. All well and good for poined corners but creating an algorithm to identify curved po...

Re: post processor
The Laguna post-processors for VCarve, etc. seem to imply that they are based on Mach post-processors. Perhaps one of the Mach PPs in Photo VCarve would be useful?

Re: Problem with Cut files
Here's another case of people getting hung up about overlaps and people believing that the "Vector Validator" is a panacea to cure all ills. The layer "Inner Ring" as the file is opened contains two objects: an open vector which describes almost the entire fan shape ; a grouped set of vectors that i...

Re: Controlling Z path for fluting
Yup. Pictures / a file will really help. My thoughts are: you say starting at 1/2" depth rising to 1/16". But, is that not the same as starting at 1/16" depth and descending to 1/2"? the Project Toolpath Onto 3D Model should do what you want. It will start the fluting toolpath 1/16" below the surfac...

Re: Getting rounded corners on inlay
Aside from the bit being in reality greater than 60 degrees there is the consideration of how the excess material is being removed and is it being removed in such a manner as going below the level of the sharp corners into the realm of the "hidden" rounded corners.

Re: Can this be replicated in V-carve pro?
Steven, that is really nice work. Yeah. It was a pleasure helping out the "Maori guy" with his part in three-person totem pole carving. Then watching him and the other two (who were until then just names that I had heard before) work their umpteen years of learned carving magic. It began as "do you...

Re: Can this be replicated in V-carve pro?
A search for the image using Bing image search shows an expired entry for an Etsy listing. The teaser text suggests that it was hand-carved and I don't really disbelieve that. One other image of it shows it in someone's hand. Using my hand as a measurement then the overall length seems to be about 1...

Re: Eliminating "pieces" above & below letters in v-carving
For future reference, two other ways to get the 1/4" mill to go in to the areas are:
- use a smaller angled v-bit (say, 60 degrees)
- use a shallower flat depth

Re: Eliminating "pieces" above & below letters in v-carving
Does the preview in the first post represent only the path from the v-bit portion of the V-Carve/Engraving toolpath? That is has the preview been run with the portion of the toolpath ending in [Clear]? When a clearance bit is added to the V-Carve/Engraving toolpath two separate entries are created: ...

Re: Can this be replicated in V-carve pro?
I was thinking that adding an elliptical "dome" whose major axis is the distance was about the centre to centre distance of the two dishes and whose minor axis is the distance from top to bottom point of the eye-shaped intersecting area. And then figuring out what combination of modes is needed to e...
