### Re: Tapered Inlay (Paul Zank method) Plug with Rough Clearing: discussion

Thanks. I had seen that video ( https://forum.vectric.com/viewtopic.php?p=264755#p264755 ). I came up with the same method that Stefan details before I saw the video. It works. The important part is that the "roughing" toolpath(s) must stop before the final toolpath's start depth (his start depth of...

My first thought: what are the stepover values for the square-end bits? If they are greater than 50% make them less than 50%

### Re: Question on carving inlays

Jan, You can manually do what the gadget does. Let’s pretend you want a start depth (SD) of 4mm and a flat depth (FD) of 2.5mm. The pretend bits are 60 deg V with stepdown of 2mm and 1/8 square-end with stepdown of 1.5mm: find the largest stepdown of the two bits: 2mm create a “VCarve / Engraving To...

The PDF here: https://woodworkingformeremortals.com/w ... t-winners/ can be imported into VCarve. The vectors can then be scaled to whatever size you need.

### Re: Easy Cabinet Maker

For Windows 10 (and presumably recent previous versions of Windows) you can find them at:

Code: Select all

``````C:\Users\Public\Documents\Vectric Files\Gadgets
``````
Within that will be your product (Aspire or VCarve) and within that the old versions of Easy Cabinet Maker that you no longer need.

### Re: Question on carving inlays

tapered-inlay.jpg Jan. For the top (inlay — a.k.a. plug, male) if you set the start depth at 0.0 and the flat depth at 0.2 the inlay wouldn't go into to the bottom (it would effectively be a mirror image of the bottom...sort of). In the image above A is your start depth (0.1 in your case) which is ...

### Re: Vcarve Manual

If you print it as a single page PDF there will be no table of contents. As well the major sections will appear as if a random order. For example if I were to print the PDF these are the major headings of the first 6 sections: Move Selection Edit Sheet - Single Sided Tool Database Laser Module Adapt...

As per the video, the first pass is 3.5mm deep with 1mm bottom.

This does work: local multiplier if tool.InMM and not job.InMM then multiplier = 0.0393700787401575 elseif not tool.InMM and job.InMM then multiplier = 25.4 else multiplier = 1 end I suppose you could do "local multiplier = 1" and drop the last "else" but the code-style police probably would frown o...

### Re: Multiple tools for 2D Profile Toolpath?

I do similar things like this quite often. first toolpath cut almost all the way through the material (e.g. material thickness less your tab thickness) with an "allowance offset" of a small amount ( 0.006 inch say). This will be sheared off by the second bit second toolpath cut all the way thorough ...
