Re: Rather large wall art piece.

I make a duplicate of the Aspire file. You can then change the material size to the size of the sample you want to cut and trim your design to fit the new material size. This way you've left your original design file intact.

Re: Experience in Aluminum

95% of my cutting is aluminum. Here is an image of cuts I made which look similar to what you were doing. IMG_0029.jpeg Here is what I did: First, and very important, I used 6061 aluminum. Don't use 5052 if you can help it, as it does not cut cleanly and will adhere to your end mill. I have a vacuum...

Re: 10.5 and xp

Release notes say that 10.506 now runs on XP. Anybody confirm that? I was running Windows XP SP3 under Parallels 15.1.4 and macOS Catalina version 10.15.6. I downloaded Aspire 10.507 and the installation failed. But I was able to find a free install of Windows 10 Home ( https://www.youtube.com/watc...

Re: 10.5 and xp

Just another perspective. As a Mac user, the only non-mac programs I use are Aspire and Shopbot SB3. SB3 runs on a dedicated Dell laptop which is offline, never updated, and I don't even know what version of Windows it came with, nor do I care. I transfer files to it with a flash drive. I only need ...

Re: Help creating form tool for single flute upcut spiral

Sorry, Adrian. I misunderstood your comment. I interpreted "undercut" to mean a cutting edge on a top surface of the end mill, like a t-slot bit or this one: Screen Shot 2018-06-26 at 4.41.24 PM.png As much as I like the Onsrud single flute spiral, I may need to switch to something else that clears ...

Re: Help creating form tool for single flute upcut spiral

I'm doing pocket toolpaths with a 0.5" clearance path and a 0.125" finish path. Aspire generates paths just fine, but has to do so without regard to the geometry of the end mill. The preview, however, does show how the tool shape effects the cut. I would like to define a single flute spiral end mill...

Help creating form tool for single flute upcut spiral

I'm trying to create a form tool for an Onsrud 63-631 one flute upcut spiral bit. This is the opposite of a V bit in that the "point" is at the edge rather that at the center. This does not seem possible in Aspire. I get an error that a line sloping from the center to the edge is not a suitable vect...

Scott ... I can be a backup (Plan C). It would be a 184 mile detour for me, so I would need to take you up on lodging for both Friday and Saturday nights. If your wheelchair won't fold enough to go in the back of the MINI Clubman, I can bring the Sprinter van.

Finding an Aspiring artist to take over my clock business

I want to semi-retire and divest myself of one of my business lines ( KronosWorks.com contemporary metal clocks ), but I’m not sure how to go about it. I use Aspire, but VCarve Pro would work just fine. I use a ShopBot Desktop MAX, but I’m going to keep mine, so anyone interested will need their own...

Re: 2 lines from Illustratur

If you Object>Image Trace>Expand your tracing in Illustrator and then switch to Outline mode, you'll see the two lines. But if before you Expand the tracing you click on Outline in the Image Trace Control Panel, you'll see that you end up with only one line.
