What is the size (especially the height) of that thing? You will need at least a bit as long as the height (plus collet clamping) and a machine travel twice that height. Some with an oscillating multitool sander but mostly with elbow grease and a foam sanding pad. It helps to make sure the CNC cut is clean and as unfuzzy as possible.

Not sure yet what to put in there. And I have not added the locking pin yet.

Use MDF only if you have good dust collection. It makes fine dust that is not healthy.

Might be interesting to run the tool path with a pen in the spindle (of course non-rotating) on paper and see if the corners are clean or somehow wavy off track. If the latter, I would suspect the acceleration or look-ahead settings in the controller. If the pen trace is clean, I would suspect some ...
