Re: Red Ironbark- Pudgy Kitten/Butterfly
Thanks Bill....Shaman came off machine Tuesday PM after making SURE I didn't want to make any cuts. Maple was standing deadwood that blew off, and bark was loose on the right side and partly punky. Tested 3 different finishes yesterday on waste areas, and looks like I'll fully saturate with Linwax t...

Re: Knife Handles
Thanks Randall. I just checked my most used of those bits... I put a sharpie mark on the bit case for every 8 hrs(or 4 hrs on "Bit Dulling" exotics)of cutting... My .25mm has 9 marks on it and I still use it:) If allowance is .015" or less..sometimes a coat of finish helps(? depends on wood and fini...

Re: Red Ironbark- Pudgy Kitten/Butterfly

May be boring reading to some, but just trying to pass it on hoping it may help others. (besides...I LIKE to Yatter:) When I bought Kitten model... also bought the Wolf/Moon m...

Re: Red Ironbark- Pudgy Kitten/Butterfly
Thanks Art and Joe:) The hardest part of this one was the Wood:) Couldn't find much info on it except it had a Janka of 2,800-3,200 and specific gravity of about 1.18, and "...not for fine detailed work..."!! I'll take a chunk of hard, heavy wood for a 3D any day of the week, but this was one of the ...

Re: Red Ironbark- Pudgy Kitten/Butterfly
So Chucked the .25mmTBN and Nudged my Z-Zero .005" down from the last depth of the 1mm.... warmed wood slightly and applied thin coat of Linwax, 1.6.21 RED IRONBARK 4 READY FOR .25MM TBN.jpg And cut. Here it is straight off the machine after soft horsehair brushing it off. 1.8.21 JOANS CAT 1.jpg Sor...

Re: Red Ironbark- Pudgy Kitten/Butterfly
The Kittencat once placed and roughly sized, was proportional height of .43"... So could have cut with my 1/8" shank small TBNs(CEL about .5"), but kinda liked the model with the model height increased to .55". That meant the .25" shank TBNs. So I made an alternate model with the exaggerated model h...

Red Ironbark- Pudgy Kitten/Butterfly
I made a small Kitten/Butterfly ornament on a test cut piece for paint infilling for a Christmas ornament for my stepmom and sent her a pic with 1 coat on it. 12.21.2020 TEST BOARD KITTEN .jpg Told her that if she like it I would buy the 3D model, and cut her one for her January Birthday. She loved ...
