Vectric Update Coming?

It is usual for Vectric to refresh their products around the end of the Summer or early Fall. Any hot rumours regarding what goodies to expect?

My top wish list item is for trochoidal toolpaths!

Re: Is it my Surface Pro...?

It takes about 2:15 on my Surface Book 3 when set to Maximum (25x slower). About 5 seconds when set to Standard. By the way, VCarve doesn't use my Surface's NVIDIA GTX graphics processor but runs entirely on the Intel processor.

Re: G-Code decison trees, goto and loop?

There are many flavours commonly called "Gcode" -- genuine RS274, Mach3, LinuxCNC, etc. The LinuxCNC flavour has named variables, looping, conditionals, subroutines, etc. Many of the other flavours do not.

Bed zero versus material zero

For the last few years all of my jobs defaulted to Material zero but now each new job defaults to Bed zero. Has an update changed things? How do I make the Job Setup default to Material zero rather than Bed zero?

Re: Preview VCARVE Files in Windows explorer

I frequently save the preview as a .png file in the same folder and with the same name as the VCarve file. I can scroll through the previews and then select the VCarve file of the same name. Not as convenient as what you ask but it works for me.

Re: 11.5 Preview Speed

Yes, it is apples/oranges. However, my little laptop takes about 2 minutes to preview both sides. If someone reports doing it in 2 seconds I'd seriously consider an upgrade to whatever they're using.

Re: 11.5 Preview Speed

When I do Help > About on my Surface laptop it lists my graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650). Task Manager never shows the NVIDIA card in use during normal windows operations (there is a second graphics card -- Intel Iris Plus -- used for Windows stuff). The NVIDIA shows 16% busy when previewing ...

Re: 11.5 Preview Speed

I do have the resolution set to Standard with both v11.016 and v11.501. My Surface has a "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 with Max-Q Design" according to Task Manager and it shows about 16-17% active when previewing. I have a desktop with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 and an i7 but it takes about the same time ...

11.5 Preview Speed

I was excited to read that 11.5 would be significantly faster on multicore machines with fancy graphic cards. That has not been my experience. I did a preview of the attached on 11.0 and 11.5 on a Microsoft Surface Book which has an i7 and Nvidia GFX. 11.5 uses the Nvidia but is actually slower than...

Onedrive allows you to revert to previous versions of your file. Have you tried that?

Re: Combining Pocket Allowance, Profile Allowance Offset, and Profile Last Pass allowance?

Perhaps I`m missing your point but I achieve what I think is your desired result by using two toolpaths. First, clear most of the hole using either Pocket or Profile inside specifying an allowance of perhaps 0.005 (I`m cutting aluminum so specify larger in wood). Create a second toolpath using Profi...

Re: Another diamond drag question.

That seems a somewhat questionable conclusion! In my experience when things display correctly in Vectric and work sometimes but fail other times it is almost always a machine -- mechanical, failing connector, electrical interference, etc -- rather than a Vectric problem. Cutting the same gcode twice...

Re: Pockets cutting .020 too small

What control software does your AvidCNC use? Many (most?) control software provides optional backlash compensation. Certainly Mach3 and LinuxCNC have that capability. If your software does then enabling backlash compensation might help.

Re: Aspire SLOW under Parallels 17 - Windows 11 ARM

Insofar as I know there is no Arm version of any Vectric software. Running Intel code on an Arm processor requires that every instruction be interpreted. That is slow even on a fast processor.
