Re: Boundry around model not accurate

In the modeling tab there is a "create vector boundary" option.

Boundry around model not accurate

I've been struggling with a profile vector around a dome. Initially I thought there was something wrong with my machine. That was not the case. it turns out the vector boundary around the model is inaccurate. The boundary is off by about .007 inches shifted to the right on the X axis. Therefor the p...

Engraving versus a Vcarve Bit

Question. If you choose an engraving bit with a 15 degree side angle for a vcarve toolpath does Vcarve consider it a 30 degree vcarve bit?

Re: Race Horse Game

In your second post of this thread you did refer to "epoxy stain" I thought maybe there was a product that I hadn't heard of. It came out great no matter how you did it. "I then removed the material from the CNC and stained those areas with epoxy stain." Thanks. It's supposed to say "ebony" stain! ...

Hi,

What is “epoxy stain”? Do you mean the dye used for tinting epoxy?
Where did you see "epoxy stain"? I stained it first. Then I brushed on the poly.

Re: Race Horse Game

The rings in the holes are size 0 grommets that I found on Ebay. I started out by staining it first then brushing 3 coats of poly on a 15x24x.75 inch piece of lauan plywood lightly sanding between coats. I exported the job into two separate files. I ran the first file putting a registration mark at ...

Race Horse Game

I saw this game when we were in Florida for the winter. I thought I'd try my hand at making one. I made the horses on my Millright M3 while we were there and completed making it on the M3's big brother when we returned home. The numbers on the horses are laser engraved. 30E0A025-C004-4ED4-BF59-78D33...

Re: Christmas Ornament

For the lettering I used Helvetica single line text using a 60 degree V bit with a .030 inch depth setting and a profile tool path. For the trees, wreath and candles I used the same 60 degree bit with a V-Carve tool path and a flat depth of .125 inch. Painting was a breeze. Before carving I sprayed ...

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll glue up some poplar and give it a try when we return home next month. I'll keep you posted.

Re: Tulip

What a great idea. The tulips look fantastic! I think I'll attempt to make one for my wife, daughters, daughter in law, and granddaughter. What type wood did you use? Where did you find it 1.75" thick? How did you round off the bottom of the flowers? Thanks / Rick

Re: First time dovetails

Looks like I was lucky when I tried it in 8.5. I tried it again in 9 making sure none of the lines shared a start point location and it works as expected. I stand corrected. It works fine. I've been waiting for this day for a long time. 70 years old and I finally made a mistake.

Re: First time dovetails

I just tried to use it in ver. 9 I'm having the same unsuccessful results as you. The pins are also forming outside the original shape. Fortunately I did not uninstall 8.5. It works fine in 8.5. Looks like it needs some work for ver. 9. Glad I read your post or I'd still be messing with it.
