Re: Aligning Nodes to inlay Toolpath

Thanks Adrian, I hadn't thought of using the offset tool. I'll have a play with that. The fillet tool was the first thing i tried. unfortunately it was a pretty messy set of vectors, lots of nodes and random arc, beziers etc and the fillet wouldn't change for me on most of the corners. But I think t...

Aligning Nodes to inlay Toolpath

Hi Everyone, I have a job on that was going to make use of the Male/female inlay feature. I have already cut the female face with the router but have decided to cut the male parts on the laser which of course does not make use of toolpaths. I can use the vectors obviously and am currently using the ...

Re: Circle Problem

Ok, so I got a bit carried away and forgot to take some pictures while I had the hood open, so to speak, but I think I found the problem. There was a fair bit of play in the rack and pinion part of the x-axis, for me the short, gantry, axis. I took the motor off to reveal the nylon gear, took that o...

Re: Circle Problem

Hi guys, Almost definitely not Aspire related. Thanks Paul, you're right as always. Manufacturer has replied just now and suggests it is most likely a result of a 'gap' between the nylon gear on the y axis and the motor. They state, check for gap and adjust. I don't really know where to begin but I ...

Re: Circle Problem

Hi Scott, thanks for that. The example I posted is just 1 of about a thousand characters that all came in one very large file. I simply selected that one as an example and exported it to .dxf through the menu rather than try and upload the whole thing. I have them laid out on a 600mm x 1200mm sheet ...

What settings in that tab do you recommend, whenever I try to use that it seems to only alter the straight lines.

Thank you

Circle Problem

Hi Everyone. I wonder if someone can help me with this. I am currently engraving a heap of small signs out of Rowmark Ultra Matt and have noticed something strange. Most of the curves are getting small 'flats' or straight bits where the font should be a nice curve. See photo. 2014-05-29 16.40.02.jpg...

Re: is this the biggest outdoor lithophane

Corian is a "solid Surface" material normally used for kitchen benchtops, thermoformed sinks etc. Lots of hospitals use it extensively. Don't Quote me, but I think it is UV stable for 10years guaranteed.

Re: is this the biggest outdoor lithophane

It looks awesome, and one of my favourite iconic photos to boot. How did you go with material size? Did you have to join sheets together to get the overall size or does Kroin come that large? If you did have to, is there any noticeable difference at the join line or between the sheets? It looks like...

Re: Importing 3D models

ssflyer, I'm afraid I agree. I'm running the same model in MDF as I type. I have completed the Aspire version edited at Max Resolution with the page size just 15mm bigger than the part, and machined with a 0.25 ball nose with a 4% stepover to remove all doubt. Already I can see it has done a wonderf...

Re: Importing 3D models

Hi TReischl, Thanks for explaining your point more clearly. I do agree with you, proof is in the pudding so to speak. I normally machine all my 3D type parts with less than 10% stepover, usually I am happy with around 7-8%. But I think that it is because Aspire is pixel based that when I see lines i...

Re: Importing 3D models

ssflyer, Thank you for taking the time to do that, very kind of you. And you are perfectly correct, more than adequate for almost all applications. My model has taller vertical walls which makes those lower lines more obvious. I can run a profile cut around that wall to clean it up, but it doesn't a...

Re: Importing 3D models

dealguy Thanks for that, I'll be trying that first thing Monday morning. My earlier attempt at this still showed lines etc, but if I'm honest I only gave it a cursory glance and the job size could have been a little smaller too. So in the interest of giving Aspire every chance I will try again tommo...
