Re: Kitchen cabinet door
I think it's maple but you maybe right :) I stained with GF rosewood water-base i love that stain. Ah HA! (lol) GF Rosewood -- I do too much of it every year to not recognize that! (I'm a professional furniture finisher. ;-) And yes, I do believe that's oak... I see the cathedral grain. What a beau...

Re: Kitchen cabinet door
Wow - beautiful design!
But are you sure that's maple?
Looks like oak stained with GF Rosewood.
Regardless... it certainly makes a statement!

Re: Importing complicated patterns from Illustrator
I saved kilrabit's .jpg and was able to get this from it.
I didn't take the time to edit out the vertical line but VCP had no problem picking this up.

I've never seen an S like that either but you can search this site for something similar and edit the S.

Re: Could use some Help on Some "Curly-Cues"
I do these all the time. :) Import the bitmap, let VCP set the vectors then clean them up by editing nodes. Since you have two of them, edit just one, get it perfect then copy, paste, flip it upside down and move it into position. Carve it using a 60º v bit. I've found that things like this should b...

You can find thousands of things on places like shutterstock.com, canstockphoto.com and professional-vector-art.com (plus a lot of others).
Some are free, some are subscription, some are pay-as-you-download.
Modify your search and add the word "vector" to it.

Great color mixing!
For the veins, I'd either glaze and remove or do a dry brush with a dark gray/brown and the brush held nearly flat to the surface.

Sharkdan - this may have exactly zero to do with your problem but check to make sure you're using the correct post processor first. Then check to make sure you have your X and Y leads hooked up correctly. Also, if you haven't yet, register for the forum and post your problem there. The members are a...

Beautiful sign and fantastic finish.
