Re: Compact metal plate engraver
I am just setting up a 4x6 foot bed laser with a 130w and a 80w laser and that is considered high power in my crowd- the 130w tube is taller than I am [me= old, short, fat] with enough raw power it might be possible to mark metal but as you say it would be quite a glass tube if it were done that way...

Re: Compact metal plate engraver
CO2 lasers can cut metal but it requires an added gas [usually oxygen], a specialized cutting head and a lot of power. I am on a laser forum for Ruida controllers and out of hundreds of members I doubt that 5-6 have metal cutting capabilities. The reason is cost of course. I live and breath [and lov...

Re: Compact metal plate engraver
CO2 laser will not mark metals- there are sprays that will make nice black marks on many metals after lasering [with CO2]. You would likely use a Fiber laser for marking metals.

Re: Faux Wood Cabin Sign
How do you cut the ACM? I would cut the outline from Signgrade acrylic [impact modified] on the laser- if printed on pvc-free film it could be applied and then contour cut quite easily/quickly. Nice sign BTW

Very nice, I use a lot of corian [and similar] on both the CNC and CO2 laser.

scalci wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 7:16 pmHi Guys,
I am using Boxes (https://www.festi.info/boxes.py/?language=en) to create boxes to laser cut.
Is there a way to create similar boxes in Vectric ?
Interesting site but I cannot get it to do anything?

Cabinet makers always have sink cutouts that are usually not used. They are not white of course but some are pretty for some uses. There is also 1/4" available online- usually white, works great on the laser as well.

I consider my Prusa Mk3s a valuable essential tool and design in Fusion360 and print items for myself every day. I am sheltering at home for the duration and brought it home with me. I took it to the Keys last month also. I print almost exclusively PETG with great success.

Re: How to fabricate MDF, sheetmetal, hardwood veneer sandwic
They now produce a ACM [aluminum composite material - plastic core .125 or .25 with alum faces] with steel faces. Cuttable with a saw and flat, if that might work.

I used to love to do tracing of logos when I had a sign business, very relaxing for me. And it is a nice logo- what is QB? Looks similar to a Bentley logo.
