clock project

Post by signmarketingman »

I cut several units using 3/4 in MDF. . It is something that men like.
Sealed with the usual shellac coating. Left it unsanded to create a cast metal look.
Painted with one shot brass paint and treated with a home made concoction to make the green patina look. It attracts a lot of attention. Makes for a great conversation piece. Clock face is from Klockit. The brass face matches perfectly.
Thank you for the project.

Very nice. I was just about to order two of the klockit faces recommended in tutorial.... i like the brass in middle of your face... but don't see it on klockit... which clock insert is it... they have the 1.99 shipping special going on which is good deal for small order.

thanx in advance,
Jeff

I like the all brass look - I'll need to make another and try that myself! Thank you for posting the photo and the overview of the finish.

Hi Jeff,

I think he used a slightly larger visible diameter insert (3 7/8" overall visible diameter...Mounting Diameter: 2 3/8"). Here's a link to the Klockit page showing the size/style I believe he used...

However. the unit post by the gentleman just above is nearly identical to the one I used..
I apologize for that misinformation.. I used the klockit units on different projects.

Thank you for the info - either clock insert is probably made by the same company anyway! A person could even carve their own clock face and use a "just hands" insert too. Lots of flexibility there.
