I love all the boards you guys have done. I'm wondering how you handle cupping on the wider pieces of wood. I wanted to try making a large crib board (11") but can't find anything that isn't cupped and have been told that there's a good chance that anything that size will cup. I'm thinking I might have to glue-up two smaller boards. Any suggestions or thoughts?
Yes I have had that problem what I do is glue up boards not more than 3.5" to 4" making the best grain matches I can. Than I use sand sealer before the final finish knock on wood I have not had a problem since. My finished boards are 12.5"
Hi Rick, I have been following your Cribbage site for some time now. YTou may have seen some of my work that I have posted. You've been a great help and inspiration to me, I finally got one of my boards into the display cabinet of my local football club and they are willing to sell them for me so fingers crossed.
I especially like your approach to the pockets for cards and pegs. could you give me a few more pointers. Is that a seperate part that is screwed to the underside of the main board?
I also like the two wood finish, is this achieved using inlay techniques or other method.
Sorry George I haven’t been on line much the past few months, I have had a life challenge to deal with. Your boards look very nice. Yes to bottom is a separate from the top and it screws together. With the two different woods I machine the inlay and then pocket the cribbage board to receive the inlay. Thanks for the nice words about my web site it has to been neglected
