The key to my success, well sort of.

One of today’s projects. I picked up a couple of extra long milling bits, did the roughing cuts with a ¼” ball nose, 1/8” for the finish pass. My indexing technique needs some tweaking, the key offset about 1/8”. I just used some foam that a guy used to package an item I received lately. Maybe I’ll get gutsy and try it in wood?

Hey, not bad, especially from a piece of soft foam!

The 'key' (no pun intended) is in careful indexing. I have found that indexing to the center of the piece works for me. All I have to be careful about is making sure I set my machine centers 'exactly' in the center along the axis that will be flipped. Works pretty good for me.
