MIA POW V3M file

Post by JamesB »

A while ago I created a very simple 3D dished model of the POW MIA emblem (just the silhouette not the text) for this gentleman: http://www.talkshopbot.com/forum/messag ... 1234094968 . This file is below (zipped V3M file) in case others can make use of it for plaques or other appropriate designs.

Thanks,
James

Don,

I think James is making this file (in V3M format) available to us all.

James,

Thank you! I can use this to make some friends very happy.

Thank you, James.

I spent a total of 32 years in service to my country, but that is nothing compared to what some of the POWs and MIAs have given.

It was for Jimmy, I did not charge him for this. Its actually simple in 3D but tricky as it probably lends itself to 2D better. However he needed the 3D dish to compliment his overall design. Anyway I thought it could be put to good use. Perhaps if someone puts the standard text together that goes with the emblem they can post that for people to use too.

Cheers,
James

I did as James suggested and tried to put the rest of the POW-MIA flag text together so that anyone interested can use it or edit it to their liking to use with the file James has posted above. I cleaned up the vectors and I tried to scale the vectors to fit James file and I have looked at them together although my preview did not turn out very smooth, and probably needs less stepover so I just posted the file with the missing vectors and text.
I hope that someone will be able find a use for this with James' file etc.

Hello again: The MIA POW V3M file downloaded just fine. Thanks. Tried to download the POW MIA 2.crv file but can't get it to open up. The Cut 2D logo comes up but does nothing but refuse to be closed. Any ideas? Norm

Hi Norm,
I think I created that file with VcarvePro, so it probably won't open in Cut2d. I can save it as a .dxf and post it if you are interested? Let me know and I will try and get it done today.
Are you trying to use Cut2D to make the toolpaths? I am attaching the vectors for the file in .eps format and as saved from Cut2d without toolpaths. I hope this will work for you Norm.

Hello,
I thought it might be good to have the vectors from the center traced so that the whole flag could be done with Cut2D. I Vcarved the same vectors and attached a preview to show how it might look, and of course there are many alternate ways to do it. I hope this enables some people to cut the whole flag even if they don't have VcarvePro or Aspire.
I have the VcarvePro file also but it is too large to post.
