wood grain and direction

Post by AZsawdusty »

I have best ---so far-- results using red oak with wide grains vertical for doing portrait work. Close grains and figured seem to wash out the images also, I usually use 60 deg engraving cutters from bits and bits. com cutting at about 035 deep at 45 sometimes 35 deg lines.

Always looking for better woods and grain patterns. What do you use to make your portraits work best. Please share your experiences.
