Routed, Burned, Beaten and Sealed
Routed, Burned, Beaten and Sealed
New feed store in my area wanted a rustic ranch type sign. I took the piece of cypress and threw it on the cnc. Turned out well but a little too perfect so I ended up finishing it with a mallet and hand chisel. Then I beat it with a chain and burned it with a torch. Finished with a clear poly sealer. Then we wrapped it with rope. I will take more pics of it hanging and the other signs in the package when I go back to install a few more signs. Its now hanging in the feed store's indoor coral right next to a horseican. They loved it, I didn't care for the way the knots showed up in the U and under the N but it was supposed to be rustic.
BTW the background was done using v-carve pro's new texture feature and a 1" core bit.

That must have felt funny beating a perfectly nice piece of wood. What effect does wrapping it in rope have?
Looks good by the way.

Kimon,
Fantastic job and looks.
After viewing it several times, I wonder what it would look like to attempt to give the area where the letters texture before cutting the cutting the letters, And then the same texture around the letters after they've been cut. The same texture but maybe just at a slightly different angle and then giving it the tourch job.
But I don't really see how one could improve on such a great creative job.
Keep the images coming.

If you don't mind me asking Kimon, what did you charge for doing the sign? I never know what anything is worth or how to value things.

Here she is all tied up with rope! In my first post it was a little unclear what the rope was for. It is only to hide the fasteners and apear a little more "western"
