Material Set-up Y Gap

Post by anyducks »

In Material setup, the option "Rapid Z Gaps above material" sets the height the tool will move over the material .
I need to have Y move behind the work 1" when the current pass is completed.
When the current line is cut and the bit is returning for the next pass, it nicks the wood.
I can extend the line 2" and this reduces nicks. The 'Y' default seems to be .25 "

thanks

There isn't such a thing as Y clearance during a cut (or X for that matter). You need to extend the vectors as you're doing. The "default" distance is basically the tool radius as the toolpath is calculated from the centre of the bit.
