File Type

Post by Samson »

I'm planning to purchase a few files from D&M, but I'm curious which file type would be best for V-Carve Pro?
TIA !

I think that the V3M files work best because that is the format that the files are actually modelled in and so there is no conversion between file types. They also have installers which means they are placed directly into your software. That said the D&M store actually allows you to log in afterwards and download again with whatever format you like so what you choose now doesn't matter too much as long as it works for you.

V3M would be my choice, if you download them in any of the other formats you are going to be limited by how many models you can import into a file with vcarve aren't you??

Yes. Whenever you have the option, purchase the V3m file type when planning to use the model(s) with VCarve.

The V3m is a proprietary Vectric file type. Works with VCarve and Aspire. There is a distinct advantage for VCarve users, because you are not limited as far as how many V3m models you can use in a VCarve project layout.

Thanks gentlemen.
I thought I had read somewhere that the V3M files worked best in Vectric software, and that multiple models could be imported as well.
Now I just need a larger bank roll...

It’s not that the V3m Files “work better”. Any of the file types will carve the same, regardless.

It’s that since you are using VCarve (not Aspire), you will not have the “one model per project limit” like you would with the other file types. That’s the advantage for you choosing the V3m, in your case.

Thanks Micheal.
That's pretty much what I meant, it just didn't read that way.
Thanks for making it more clear.
