help finding a post

The other day I saw a post concerning a double sided cut of what looked to be a skate board.

I searched for skateboard, skate board, snowboard and snow board without any luck.

There question concerned cutting below the zero plane on the back side to get at the undercut area from the front side.

Apparently I didn't subscribe and now I can't find it.

Hopefully I wasn't dreaming and someone will remember the post and can direct me there.

I'm not sure what post you're talking about, but to get an undercut, either when you import the model, select create both sides and then set the overcut distance. Or if you already have the model, make sure you have a limit plane (zero plane) on a different level and in it's component properties, set the base height at a Negative distance.

This was just a couple days ago.

Generated my own "skateboard" shape in SKECTUP and exported it as an STL.

I then imported it into Aspire and the OVERCUT DISTANCE allowed me to do what I was trying to figure out.

Interesting enough the feature is not addressed in the manual or if it is I can't find it.

guess I'll send vectric a heads up.

Hey Ohiolyons,

This isn't a skate board but Sean made a tutorial a few years back covering how to model a guitar neck, which covers the clever modeling of the head stock (creating a part that is all on one side but needs cutting on both sides) If this is something you are interested in the video can be found here:
