Infinity flourish
Sometimes the old brain is a victim of TMB (Too Many Birthdays).
How would you go about V Carving the attached design. Kind of a open, double lapping, infinity symbol.
I'm having trouble wrapping my head around it this week.
Thanks for the replies

Re: Infinity flourish
Fix the open vectors (join tool)and then you can just select all the vectors and create a v-carve toolpath. Whether that is the way you imagined it to look only you can answer at that point.

Re: Infinity flourish
As Adrian said, you have some vector issues, I'd suggest using the Vector Validator tool. But the big issue is the whole drawing is put together wrong to crave correctly, at least in my mine.
Are you looking for something like this?

Re: Infinity flourish
What you are both suggesting is close. The view you offered is real close as well. I knew I had some vector issues, I was in the beginning stages of thought when I posted this and am still a thinking about it.
In your preview, the vcarve toolpath ends at the intersections. I want the line to carry through without the "squared shoulders" at the points where the lines intersect.
That is the part that I am mostly thinking of. Everything else is, like you said, clean up some vector issues.
Thanks for responding and any help you can give is appreciated.

Re: Infinity flourish
If this is what you are looking for, I joined all of the vectors into individual loops, then had to change the V-bit diameter to 3/4" in order to get it to cut as wide as the width at the widest point in the flourish. I did not scale your vectors down to allow use of the 1/2" V-bit.

Re: Infinity flourish
To get clean corners where the lines overlap you'll need to break up the curves into sections that don't overlap themselves, VCarve them individually, then copy areas where you made the breaks and outline them to VCarve over the previous connected ends. The render and file I attached show the 3 breaks I added. What is still needed is to remove the little bridges where the curves were separated. I'll let you do that.

Re: Infinity flourish
Thanks for all of your help. 4Dthinker has me one track. I need to cut the vectors and copy/paste in layers to make it flow like I want.
Its funny how the little things can be so complicated sometimes.
Thanks for all that replied.

Happy to help. Just paying back some of the help I got from here when I started out.

Re: Infinity flourish
Good job 4D.
Using overlapping vectors you can get rid of the V-Carve "Vs" where the vectors intersect.

Re: Infinity flourish
I've been at this too long, as I did exactly that after I posted the file above, Highpockets. The older I get though, the longer it takes my mind to come up with the simplest solutions.

Duh!!! Highpockets, thats exactly what I wanted to do, but couldn't see the forest for the trees.
Thanks for the suggestion.
