How do I import .sldprt into vcarve pro
How do I import .sldprt into vcarve pro
My sons friend made me a couple files in solidworks and they are currently .sldprt files. I can't find any info on how to import into vcarve to use as a .crv file. Anyone have any advice?

One option is to convert them to STL format: SLDPRT to STL – How to Convert SLDPRT Files to STL

The easiest option is to get your son’s friend to “Save As" STL files out of SolidWorks.
Another workflow that works better is SolidWorks to IGES file. Import IGES into Rhinoceros. Save as Rhino native 3DM format. Import 3DM into VCarve. But that requires access to Rhino.

Make sure you actually need a 3D model file. We’ve seen quite a few folks creating 3D models (mostly from Fusion) of items that are better suited for milling as 2D vectors.
If you show us a picture of the item, we can affirm if a 3D model is needed (or not).

I only need these in 2d vector for profile routing. I can't open the files to show a picture.

Ok. I guessed correctly - no 3D model required. But, you will need the vectors of course. Perhaps the person who designed the item can save the vectors as DXF and just email those to you.injected wrote:I only need these in 2d vector for profile routing. I can't open the files to show a picture.
It seems you can download and install a free viewer for SolidWorks files. You can try that and then take a screenshot of the view if you do successfully open the file. Here is the link to the edrawings viewer download page:

If the files were created in solidworks 2018 or older I can convert the file into a dxf for you.
