VCarve Pro Licensing

Postby Solenberg » Wed Jul 31, 2019 3:14 pm

Hi, I am on the verge of buying VCarve Pro but I want to be sure I'm clear on the licensing. I read this on the FAQ page:

"Vectric's license allows any of our software programs to be installed on up to 3 PC's for a single user. If access to any one of the computers is shared with work colleagues, or anyone who is likely
to access the software, then the software must only be installed onto one computer."

I have one computer dedicated to controlling my Shapeoko CNC. I also have a personal laptop, and I sometimes do design work in my spare time on my work computer. No one else at work has access to my work computer. Will I be able to run a fully licensed copy of VCarve Pro on each of my computers? Additionally, My personal laptop will be reaching the end of its useful life before too much longer. Will there be a problem when I need to transfer that copy to my new computer? And at the risk of this being a redundant question, is there any problem transferring a license from one computer to another?

You are correct. As long as you are the only person using the license then you can use it on up to three computers. What you can't do is to use your copy at home while someone else uses it at work for example.

When you come to upgrade your computer you install it on the new one (download the installer from your V&CO account), transfer over any settings (tool database etc) that you want to keep from the old one and then delete it off the old one so you maintain the three licenses in use.
