Sphere as a rotary job?
Are there any easy ways to set up a rotary job in order to make a sphere in Vcarve pro? Do I need an STL-file or will it be possible to do it in the program?

You can do it using the moulding toolpath. A straight line as the guide down the center (equator), and a 1/4 circle vector.

The moulding toolpath is new to me so I think I must have done something wrong when I tried this:
Rotary job size is 140mm long and 100mm diameter and the circle is 92mm. I couldn´t use the crv-file you attached on Vcarve.- Adrian

What version of VCarve are you using? That file is VCarve 9.517

Try this file. As the cylinder is 100mm in diameter I set the moulding toolpath to start 4mm below the surface to end up with a 92mm sphere. The equator guide line still has to run the full perimeter (width) of the flat material blank. To leave a connection to the remaining cylinder I used a 1/4 circle arc less a few mm plus a short extension so the 1/4" ball nose bit would go as deep as I wanted it to. This is a .CRV file generated by Aspire 9.0.

Sorry, ignore me. I read the post as you couldn't use the file at all rather than it wasn't the same as the setup you needed.

I got the same problem when I increased the guide line. Do you think you can save the file as an stl-file instead? Maybe I then can open it in Vcarve..

Very Odd. I haven't had anyone ever complain they could open a .CRV file I exported from Aspire unless they were using an earlier version. The only version I have of Vcarve itself is 7.5 but that doesn't have the moulding toolpath in it. At this point I suggest you read up on the moulding toolpath. I can export as a 3D model, but as this is a wrapped rotary job can't advise you on how to import it into a wrapped job and create toolpath for it.

You should only be seeing that message if you're trying to open a CRV3D file which this isn't.

I tried to open the file directly from the link and that didn´t work, but when I import it inside the program, i get this result, but I couldn´t figure out how to manage it further.

BTW, you shouldn't use it as I made it unless you have a 1/4" ball nose bit with 2" of cutter. Use a larger area clearance tool to remove most of the wood in steps before you run the Swept Profile toolpaths.
