Round over edges
Hi All,
Please advise how I achieve a round over or softening of the edges for the hearts, this is for a box insert tray.
Thanks
Ron

Re: Round over edges
I would add 10% ramp and then smooth a bit

Re: Round over edges
Using a point cutting roundover bit like these: https://www.amazon.com/Amana-Carbide-Cu ... B00EBZG4JQ you can get the effect show in my render from Aspire.
You would need to describe the bit as a form tool, and then profile cut using it ON the heart outlines.

Thank you 4D
Funny thing... I have this bit as it came with my Amana Kit they describe it as a "Breadboard" bit, never knew what it was used for..... guess you can tell I am new at all this

Not to worry, Aussie. We were all new at one time.

I made this in Aspire 9.5, but saved it as a Vcarve file. Enjoy.

Re: Round over edges
This is awesome - I love the plaque but as a newbie also love being able to see how the design was tool-pathed.
Everyday in every way this gets a little less mysterious.
Oh, and a little more expensive. Tool paths require tools. Collection growing. Now considering buying Amana stock.

Re: Round over edges
Hi 4D thank you for the tool path file.... can I push the friendship and ask for the 56125 tool file as I normally use the Amana website to down load the tool file for Vectric, unfortunately this tool is not listed.4DThinker wrote:I made this in Aspire 9.5, but saved it as a Vcarve file. Enjoy.

Re: Round over edges
I'm not sure what you are asking, Aussie. If you need to know how to add the tool to the tool database then draw a side view of the right half of the bit. Have that vector selected as you open the tool database. Select NEW..., then pick Form Tool from the list. The whole bit profile should appear. You can name it what you want, and specify cutting parameters, feeds, and speeds.
I'd rather you try doing this on your own, as once you've done it you can do it for all odd bits you acquire without needing help.

Hi Ron,
It looks like Amana has both a DXF and a PDF of the 56125 profile shape available for download here:
https://www.amanatool.com/56125-solid-c ... r-bit.html
Scroll down to “DXF Files” and click on it. You will divide and use half of the vector shape when creating the Bit in the Tool Database

Thank you for the link unfortunately I was unable to create a guest account...just returns an error and you need an account to download the DXF file.
Have used my pc and MAC to try...both times an error..... will try again later.
