AI - Cut 2D

Post by gingerjerry »

HI, I use a lot of Adobe Illustrator files and I have 2 problems:

1) It imports as 2 lines...any suggestion?

2) Also I want to cut the background of the object away, so the pattern is raised. How is this done?

Thank you

All depends on the file. Depending on the pen and brush styles used it may or may not import as two lines.

You cut the parts you don't want in the drawing by using node editing and/or the interactive trim tool (scissors). Hard to say the exact steps without seeing the design and what you're aiming for.

I don't use AI but Corel. I get double lines on top of each other if I export the objects when they are filled. I get parallel lines if I use a wide pen width.

2) Also I want to cut the background of the object away, so the pattern is raised. How is this done?

You need to create a border on the outside, that effectively reverses the carving.

Thank you
