Hello,
Thanks for the files (I'll have a look). I noticed that the project page has been updated to read Aspire only.

Re: salt boxes
I had a look at the STL and VCarve files. Phooey on STL!
I extracted the profile of the bowl in Rhinoceros from the STL file (mostly successful). I then used that profile for moulding toolpaths. Surprisingly the moudling toolpath actually behaved as I thought it should---usually I have no real luck with the moulding toolpath and tend to curse it.
Attached is a simulation image and the CRV file with moulding toolpaths in ZIP form. Note: there are no toolpaths for the lid. Also, the lid vectors had two spots where they loop back on themselves. This has been corrected.
I hope this will be useful for other VCarve users who might want to try to make one of these.
Thanks,
Steven

Re: salt boxes
Thanks.
I did not even consider looking at those lids since they were just resawn 3/4" boards, sorry about the mixup

Re: salt boxes
i see how you did that steven, interesting.
guess im too dependant on 3d shapes.
but why did you do it in sections ?
could select all the bowl rims, then profile and it will cut them out as one toolpath.

Re: salt boxes
The beauty of the moulding toolpath is that it varies the stepover the more vertical the slope providing smoother walls.
I mentioned that I find the moulding toolpath (MT) exasperating and I guess this was one of those times---despite the brave face of my previous post:

I mentioned that I find the moulding toolpath (MT) exasperating and I guess this was one of those times---despite the brave face of my previous post:
- despite the profile being 1.5" long the MT wouldn't initially calculate as there were "overlaps" so I needed to make the profile 1.495" just to avoid that. Really the MT should have been able to rotate the profile 360 deg about the circle perfectly.
- when using the full circle as a rail the MT would only give a toolpath "outside" the circle. I tried all combinations of reverse direction and mirroring the profile
- MTs need to be created one at a time. You can't apply one to both circles.
