Lonely Socks

Post by rtibbs »

Sorry Michael but I 'butchered' your Lonely Socks file somewhat.
I decided to leave the lettering proud rather than pocket them. I ran an 1/8"BM around the letters to make them stand out even more.
My original intent was to color each letter a different color but I'm now inclined to leave the lettering natural after seeing what it looked like with 'Weathered oak' stain on the texturing. (Actually looks more grey than the picture depicts)
I still intend to radius the perimeter with a 3/16" round over bit and of course add the clothespins.

My dilemma is that wifey wants the colors and I want to leave it as is. We'll see who wins out.

Ron, I like your version very much! It looks “neater” with the Profile around the letters!

My 6-year old granddaughter loves this project. Every time she comes over to our house, she checks to see if any lonely socks are “waiting” to be reunited. It so happens, we currently have one pink socklette on the board - been there for about a month. No sign of the match yet!

My daughter and granddaughter (Emma) are staying at my house while my daughter recovers from gallbladder surgery. First thing Emma did upon arrival was check the board, as usual!

...huh...I just walked through the laundry room - that sock is Blue, not Pink. I would have sworn it was Pink! Maybe a match was found for the pink one and replaced with the blue one? I don’t know. Hard to keep track around here sometimes!

To last 55 years of marriage one learns to compromise
She got some color and the rest remained natural.
I screwed and pinned (no pun intended) the clothes pins to the board rather than glue them in case one gets broken and needs replacing (or I change them out w/o colors)

I added some buttons to cover the mounting screw holes once it's mounted to the wall.

Once again, another fun project...….
