Post by sawmiller »

heres a couple of salt boxes i designed.
check over the file to see if they are safe for your machine, feel free to mod them, just give me a copy so i can see what you've done.
these are supposed to use the 1/4" x 1/16" super magnets, just havent got them in yet.

Thank you for the post. I tried routing a salt box out of beech using a 1/2" BN bit and the thing split on me. So I switched to oak and it did a better job. Mine was quite a bit thicker than yours. Also, I added a magnetic to help keep it closed and that worked just fine. These are great and fun projects.

Btw, i had to offset my 1/2" ball nose .25 in from the line on the bowl to keep it from chewing on the edge.
Maybe because of the 90 degree sides.

Here are a couple spice boxes I have done for a spice store. The double one with "S" and "P" on them sell pretty
good and I also do the "S" and "P" on a single box that sells well. The triple box for spices for chicken, pork and beef
did not go over so I no longer do those. I also do quite a few single boxes with a fleur-de-lis on the lid. Those sell well
as I am from South Louisiana. I make my boxes from cypress and again, being from Louisiana, it sells well.

A year or so ago I made some like those for a lady that sells specialty salts. Unfortunately neither her salts or the containers sold well.

This was featured in the Vectric newsletter. https://www.vectric.com/vectric-communi ... =1&items=0

The project file page https://portal.vectric.com/content/p/Saltbox claims compatibility with VCarve 9.5 but the files in the ZIP archive are Aspire .crv3d files.
